Spotify has dominated the world of music since it was founded in 2006. With 761 million users, including 300 million subscribers, and €18 billion in revenue in 2025, it is the world’s largest subscription-based music streamer. Its India story has been patchy. After seven years of investing, it finally reported a net profit of ₹75 crore on revenues of ₹514 crore in 2024-25. Earlier this month, it released Loud & Clear, a report based on its own global numbers. Amarjit Singh Batra, general manager (GM) for South Asia, Middle East & Africa (SAMEA) and managing director (MD) of Spotify India, talks in an exclusive video interview with Vanita Kohli-Khandekar about what the brand is up to.
