NEW DELHI: BJP general secretary Smriti Irani has taken a dig at Congress leader

Rahul Gandhi

, using an AI-generated video featuring characters played by Rahul and actor Amitabh Bachchan to target him over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The video comes amid Rahul Gandhi and other opposition leaders’ protests demanding CEC Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation over the SIR exercise.

Sharing the video on X, Irani wrote: “You can wake someone who is genuinely asleep, but not someone acting blind just to mislead the nation!”

The AI-generated clip recreates a scene from Big B's film, in which Amitabh Bachchan’s character explains that his name was not deleted from the voter list because a corrupt official had not issued his death certificate.

As a result, a political party used his vote and cast it in Madgaon.Irani titled the video “SIR explain”, turning it into a direct jibe at Rahul Gandhi, her former rival in the Amethi Lok Sabha constituency.Rahul has recently intensified his protests against the SIR exercise, including leading a march to the Supreme Court. Several other opposition leaders have also criticised the exercise and demanded Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation over his handling of the matter.
