A major accident occurred on the Delhi-Jaipur Highway on Monday night when soil collapsed during excavation work at a residential project under construction near Kapadiyawas village in Haryana. The project is owned by the real estate company Signature Global and is being developed on 153 acres of land.

The collapse buried several workers, killing seven, identified as Shivshankar, Parmeshwar Mehta, Mangal Mehta, Bhagirath Gope, Satish, Sanjeev Gopeand Dhananjay Mehta. Four others, Chhotelal, Shivkant, Deen Dayal, and Indrajit, were rescued with critical injuries and are undergoing treatment at a hospital.

The accident happened on Monday night while some workers were engaged in work and others were resting nearby. Chaos broke out at the site when a large mound of soil caved in during digging work, trapping several workers underneath.

Upon receiving the above information, a police team from Police Station Bilaspur, Gurugram, immediately reached the spot. The police team called the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams to the scene, who, in collaboration with the police and administration, carried out a rescue operation that continued until approximately 3:30 am.

During the rescue operation, those buried under the mud were pulled out and taken to the nearest hospital.

The police team has contacted the families of the deceased and injured and informed them of the incident. Necessary legal action is being taken.

“Upon the arrival of the family members, a complaint will be received from them, a charge will be filed, and legal action will be taken against those responsible. The police are thoroughly investigating all aspects of the incident," the Gurugram Police said in a statement.

The incident has raised serious questions about whether proper safety standards were followed during construction. The district administration is yet to announce the actions it will take in response to the accident.
