Market Quote by Vikram Kasat - Chief Business Officer – Advisory and Dealing at PL Capital
“Indian equities came under renewed selling pressure after surrendering early gains, with the Sensex falling over 500 points and the Nifty slipping below 22,700, reflecting profit-booking and heightened risk aversion. Auto, metal and banking stocks remained under pressure, while IT outperformed, indicating selective buying rather than broad-based confidence. Brent crude trading above $110 per barrel raises concerns over imported inflation, corporate margins and the rupee, which strengthened to ₹94.71 against the US dollar. Gold and silver weakened as elevated oil prices fuelled inflation concerns and reinforced expectations of tighter US monetary policy. Markets may remain volatile; investors should track geopolitical developments, crude prices and earnings, favouring fundamentally strong stocks.”

Gold and Silver Outlook: Ashish Rajodiya, Head of Commodities, PL Capital
Gold and silver are lower on Wednesday, with MCX gold at ₹1,45,917 per 10 grams, down ₹602, and MCX silver at ₹2,09,000 per kg, down ₹2,485 or 1.18%, while spot gold slips to around $4,110 an ounce for a fourth straight session of losses. Early hopes of an Iran peace deal pulled oil down and briefly helped the metals, but those gains faded once crude recovered after a diplomat dismissed reports that an agreement was close. Costlier oil keeps inflation worries alive, and markets see roughly an 85% chance of another Fed hike later this year, even though the October 27–28 meeting is widely expected to bring a hold. Clear progress on Iran and softer crude would ease rate fears and support bullion, while a fresh oil spike would keep both metals under pressure.

Former Groww team launch Onto, a customer-first travel platform, with $1 million in pre-seed funding
Onto, a Bengaluru-based customer-first travel platform founded by former Groww professionals Jagdeep Singh and Shubham Goyal, has launched its services and raised $1 million in pre-seed funding. The funding round was led by Stargazer Fund and co-led by Singapore-based White Venture Capital.
Onto launches with a simple promise: to stay on the traveller’s side even after they pay. Its first offering, Price Drop Refund, automatically gives travellers the difference back when hotel prices fall after booking, including for eligible bookings made on other platforms. Onto brings together a team with experience in building consumer technology products. The company aims to extend a technology-led, customer-focused approach to travel, beginning with hotel bookings.
The company will use the fresh capital to scale operations, strengthen the company’s technology infrastructure and develop new products as Onto builds towards a more connected, AI-led travel experience.

We started Onto to be the platform that stays on your side after you book. Today, that means refunding you when your hotel’s price drops, wherever you booked it. Tomorrow, it means looking after your entire trip, bringing every booking into one place, and using AI to show you only what matters to you, and why.”

Bullion tests key support amid inflation and Fed uncertainty: Renisha Chainani, chief research officer at Augmont, writes
· Price Movement – Gold and silver are still under pressure. Higher oil prices have revived inflation worries, and investors are now looking to next week’s Federal Reserve meeting for hints on where interest rates go from here. With energy costs keeping inflation stubbornly high, the market continues to expect the Fed to tighten further.
· Geopolitical Tensions – Tensions are building in the Middle East and Eastern Europe, and a fresh wave of attacks on tankers in the Strait of Hormuz has deepened fears of supply disruptions. Oil started climbing again after a diplomat played down reports that a deal to end the US-Iran conflict was close, though talks are still going on.
· Macro-Economic Signals – The Fed is set to skip a rate hike this month and deliver one in December instead. Policymakers are signalling patience, even though sticky inflation makes a case for a tougher stance. According to CME’s FedWatch Tool, the odds of a hike at the October 27-28 meeting are as low as 16%, while traders still see a 90% chance of a hike in December.
Technical Triggers
· Gold is holding within a key support zone of $4,080–$4,200 (₹1,45,000–₹1,51,000). If prices sustain above $4,200, a near-term rebound towards $4,400 (₹1,58,000) looks likely. However, a break below support could drag prices down to $3,950 (~₹1,42,000).
· Silver is also trading near its $57 support (₹2,09,000). If it stays below this level, the next target would be $54–55.50 (₹2,00,000–₹2,05,000), an area where buyers have stepped in twice before. A decisive move back above $59 (₹2,16,000) could clear the way for a run towards $62 (₹2,28,000).

SpaceX revenue surge: Daniel Munday, Principal Analyst, VT Markets, on what it means for investors
SpaceX’s Q3 2026 results reflect a strong growth trajectory, with revenue rising 161% year-on-year to $14.58 billion, surpassing expectations of $12.7–$12.9 billion. Adjusted EBITDA stood at $8.81 billion against expectations of approximately $6.6 billion, while net income reached $4.40 billion, marking the company’s first quarterly profit since listing. The Super Intelligence (AI) business emerged as the largest revenue contributor at $7.56 billion, followed by Connectivity/Starlink at $5.25 billion and Space/Rockets at $1.77 billion, with all three segments exceeding analyst estimates.
However, the key concern remains the scale of investment required to sustain this growth. Capital expenditure reached $19.59 billion in Q3, including $16.44 billion for Super Intelligence, taking nine-month capex to $48.07 billion. Management indicated that Q4 capital expenditure could rise to $35–$40 billion as AI infrastructure expands. Meanwhile, Starlink’s consumer subscriber base increased to 13.6 million from 12 million in Q2, although it remained below some pre-earnings estimates of 14.2–14.3 million. Monthly revenue per customer improved to $69 from $66 in Q2 but remained below $83 a year earlier, reflecting expansion into lower-price markets.
Going forward, the sustainability of AI monetisation, infrastructure spending, and Starlink’s subscriber growth will be critical in determining investor sentiment. From a technical perspective, $158.02 is the key resistance level, with a sustained move above it potentially supporting a recovery towards $172.63. On the downside, a break below $140.56 could bring $131.34 and $107.17 into focus. Investors will also monitor Tesla’s Q3 results, ongoing SpaceX–Tesla merger discussions, the Federal Reserve meeting on October 27–28, and broader sentiment towards capital-intensive AI infrastructure investments. The central question is whether SpaceX can sustain its strong revenue and profitability growth while funding its substantial infrastructure expansion.

Jefferies says selective rerating ahead for Computer Services & IT Consulting
While the growth outlook for IT remains uncertain, with stocks pricing 2-4ppts lower growth vs. history, any lack of disappointment in growth expectations and worsening sentiment on global AI capex could drive PE rerating. With valuation upside capped beyond 17-18x PE, Infosys/TCS are the only large IT firms with rerating potential. We raise PTs by 14-18% but retain Hold/UPF ratings on Infosys/TCS, respectively. Sagility offers rerating potential among midcaps.
Infosys/Sagility offer best risk-reward: Whilst the revenue growth outlook for the sector remains muted over FY26-29, a lack of incremental negative surprises on growth, amid potentially worsening sentiment on global AI capex, may drive a rerating in IT stocks. Given that best-case PE multiples for large-cap IT firms (e.g., Wipro) range from 19-22x, the risk-reward profile is unfavorable beyond 17-18x PE. At CMP, Infosys and TCS are the only large IT firms with scope for further rerating, as they are priced for 1-3% cc revenue CAGR over FY26-36. Sagility among mid-sized IT names also screens well. We raise our target PE multiples for TCS and Infosys to 13-14x to factor in a low-single-digit long-term cc revenue growth outlook, but maintain U-PF on TCS with a revised PT of Rs2125 and maintain Hold on Infosys with a revised PT of 1,160

Commodities markets: Gaurav Garg, Head - Research, Lemonn, on today's movements
Gold (XAUUSD): $4,119.540/oz (-0.14%)
Silver (XAGUSD): $57.40850/oz (-1.02%)
Crude (WTI): $100.604/bbl (+0.61%)
USD/INR: ₹94.5500 (-0.23%)
Gold is extending its decline for a fourth consecutive session as rising crude oil prices fuel inflation concerns and strengthen expectations that the US Federal Reserve may maintain a tighter monetary stance for longer. Markets expect the Fed to hold rates at its October 27–28 meeting, but the possibility of a rate hike in December remains a key concern for bullion investors. Silver is also under pressure, with its sharper decline reflecting weakness across precious metals. Meanwhile, WTI crude is supported by heightened Middle East supply risks, particularly threats to Red Sea shipping and Saudi energy infrastructure, keeping oil-market volatility elevated. The US dollar index is hovering around 101.78 after recent weakness, while investors await US inflation data, including the Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) report next week, for further policy clues. In India, the rupee’s recent recovery offers some relief, but sustained high crude prices could increase import costs and inflationary pressure.

Stock market updates: Kotak Securities on stocks and sectors today
Bajaj Finance (Reco: Buy, FV: Rs. 1210) - Strong performance and momentum
Bajaj Finance reported a strong performance across vectors in 2QFY27. High growth, increasing diversification and strong asset-quality performance will help the company ride near-term challenges of higher interest rates, risks to flexi loans and lower insurance fees. We cut estimates by 2-3% and retain BUY with a Fair Value of Rs1,210 (Rs1,200 earlier).
UltraTech Cement (Reco: Sell, FV: Rs. 8900) - In-line set
UTCEM’s 2QFY27 consolidated EBITDA was broadly in line. Consolidated volume growth of ~13% yoy was above the estimated ~10% yoy industry growth. However, a lack of visibility on fuel/energy prices clouds the industry’s near-term outlook. The wires and cables venture commenced operations in Sep 2026, with ~60% capex spent/committed as of 2QFY27. UTCEM is on track to expand capacity by another ~35 mtpa over the next 2- 3 years, leading to robust accruals and market share gains. We cut FY2027E EBITDA by ~6%, mainly due to higher energy prices, with lower ~3% cut to FY2028/29 estimates. Maintain Fair Value at Rs8,900 on rollover to Dec 2028E. SELL.
Hindustan Zinc (Reco: Sell, FV: Rs. 500) - Beat on lower costs
HZ’s 2QFY27 EBITDA exceeded estimates, led by higher sulfuric acid prices (a byproduct), sales of lead concentrate and embedded silver. Higher byproduct realizations are aiding lower CoP, which stood at its lowest level since the underground transition. Board approvals and announcements for a further ~0.6 mtpa are now likely toward end-FY2027. Returns on announced expansions (including the approved 0.25 mtpa plan) remain clouded by the risk of a major mine lease expiring in FY2030. Growth capex requirements for the coming year will increase capex, but strong earnings should keep dividends elevated. Maintain SELL with an unchanged Fair Value of Rs500.
Union Bank (Reco: Buy, FV: Rs. 230) - Well-rounded performance
Union Bank’s earnings grew 30% yoy, led by a 50% yoy decline in provisions, while PPOP grew ~20% yoy. RoE was steady at 16% (higher end among PSU peers). Slippages and credit cost remained low. NIM (reported) improved ~5 bps qoq. Loan growth was strong (19% yoy) and supported by granular deposit mobilization. We like Union Bank for its profitability profile and palatable valuation. Retain BUY with a FV of Rs230 (Rs215 earlier).
L&T Technology Services (Reco: Reduce, FV: Rs. 3600) - Steady performance
LTTS delivered a better-than-expected quarter, led by strong growth in the sustainability (4.8% qoq) vertical and a return to growth in mobility (2.3% qoq). The December quarter will be key to assessing whether the recovery in weaker segments can sustain beyond seasonal support. We forecast 5.2% CC LFL revenue growth in FY2027 and raise FY2027-29E EPS by ~2%. Consistent account mining and faster conversion of bookings into revenues remain key monitorables for the medium-term growth outlook. Maintain REDUCE with a revised FV of Rs3,600 (Rs3,350 earlier) on roll-forward.
Sobha (Reco: Add, FV: Rs. 1350) - Continued pre-sales momentum; margins remain concerning
Sobha continued to deliver strong pre-sales in 2QFY27 at Rs22 bn (+16% yoy), taking 1HFY27 pre-sales to Rs58.6 bn—meeting 55% of the full-year guidance. The 1HFY27 performance was aided by 7.9 mn sq. ft of launches, while a strong 2HFY27 launch pipeline of 12 mn sq. ft should support momentum for the rest of the year. Strong sales performance notwithstanding, margins remained weak at 7%, although operating cash margin at 20% offers hope; management expects reported EBITDA margins to improve in 2HFY27/FY2028E as contribution from legacy projects recedes. Valuations at 6.5 EV/EBITDA are inexpensive, although stock performance is likely contingent on improved margin contribution and cash generation. ADD with a revised FV of Rs1,350 (down from Rs1,715) after factoring in a lowered margin profile.
Just Dial (Reco: Buy, FV: Rs. 1185) - Acceleration in revenue growth and billings
JUST posted healthy 2QFY27 revenue growth of 13.1% yoy, driven by 7.5% yoy growth in realizations and 5.2% yoy growth in paid campaigns. Revenue growth was 3.0% ahead of our estimates. Collection growth was 11.7% yoy, also healthy. EBITDA margin of 26.4% was broadly in line with estimates, as additional revenue was invested for growth. The cash balance of Rs61 bn continues to provide downside support. We raise our revenue estimates, though we broadly retain EPS. Maintain BUY with a FV of Rs1,185, based on a target multiple of 10X Sep-2028E core P/E, to which we add the value of cash.
Oberoi Realty (Reco: Add, FV: Rs. 1900) - Strongest quarterly performance, setting up for bigger goals
Oberoi Realty reported its strongest quarterly pre-sales (Rs91.5 bn) in 2QFY27, aided by the launch of Three Sixty North (Rs78.9 bn) in Gurugram. The annuity business continued its strong performance, with rental revenues increasing 17% yoy to Rs3.4 bn, aided by 98% occupancy in the commercial portfolio and 88% occupancy across the retail portfolio. Oberoi had a large inventory (Rs220 bn) and incremental launch pipeline (Rs350 bn) to sustain an elevated sales level, while commissioning of Ritz Carlton (1QFY28) and Mariott Sky City will provide growth in the hospitality segment. The recent price correction offers an attractive entry point (8X EV/EBITDA), prompting an upgrade to ADD with an unchanged FV of Rs1,900.
Healthcare Services (Sector View: Attractive) - Diagnostics pricing: Bridging the gap
Diagnostics pricing improved further in 2QFY27, with key online and select offline players raising prices by 6-13% qoq across seven cities on KIE’s sample test bouquet. Among online players, PharmEasy, Tata 1mg, Netmeds and mFine increased their prices. Apart from Tenet and Torrent, most key offline players largely retained their pricing in 2QFY27. The pricing differential between incumbents and the lowest-priced alternative reduced further, yet it remains elevated at ~1.2-2.2X. Led by a gradual, volume-led uptick, we bake in a healthy, double-digit organic sales CAGRs over FY2026- 29 for DLPL and METROHL. While we retain BUY on DLPL, we upgrade METROHL to BUY from ADD post the recent stock price correction.

Bitcoin nears $83,000 as ETF inflows rise; $86,000 resistance in focus
Daily Quote from Mudrex
Bitcoin is trading near $83,000, supported by improving risk sentiment, with US equities rallying on strong earnings and crude oil falling nearly 5% on hopes of a potential US-Iran deal. Institutional demand also strengthened, with US spot Bitcoin ETFs recording $526.6 million in inflows, their highest since September 22. Strive also added 1,223 BTC, taking its holdings to 36,818 BTC. However, on-chain data shows only 53.8% of BTC supply is in profit, reflecting weak investor conviction. USA: Wall Street rose on strong earnings and lower oil prices, but housing data weakened and expectations of a December Fed rate hike increased.

China: Lending rates remained unchanged for the 17th consecutive month, while economic recovery momentum remained weak.

Avinash Shekhar, Co-Founder & CEO, Pi42, on crypto markets
“Bitcoin holding above $80,000 for 33 consecutive days is a meaningful sign of resilience in a market navigating shifting macroeconomic conditions. The recent easing in oil prices and US Treasury yields has also supported a recovery across major cryptocurrencies, with Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP and Dogecoin all posting gains. What stands out is Bitcoin’s ability to maintain its position through repeated bouts of volatility, suggesting that the market is gradually establishing a stronger base rather than reacting solely to short-term sentiment.
On-chain data adds to this constructive outlook, with large Bitcoin holders reportedly shifting back towards accumulation after a period of distribution. This suggests that some long-term participants are using price weakness to build positions. While spot demand remains an important factor to watch, the combination of sustained price levels and renewed whale accumulation offers encouraging signals for market participants assessing the next phase.
For investors, one of the most overlooked opportunities emerges when selling pressure begins to fade before prices make a decisive recovery. This is the phase where distinguishing between assets attracting genuine accumulation and those experiencing temporary rebounds becomes particularly valuable. Bitcoin’s current setup suggests the market may be moving from aggressive selling towards a more balanced phase, but confirmation will come from whether fresh capital returns. Investors who track this shift, rather than waiting for headlines to turn overwhelmingly bullish, may be better positioned to identify opportunities early.”

Crypto update: Nischal Shetty, Founder, WazirX, on markets today
“Wall Street closed higher, led by the Dow, while the Nasdaq was flat and the VIX fell to about 17. Oil eased 2.5% but remains near $101, keeping inflation and rate worries alive ahead of next week’s Fed meeting. For Bitcoin, trading around $82,000s, the backdrop is neutral to slightly constructive.
Bitcoin’s long-term outlook is drawing renewed optimism. JPMorgan expects Bitcoin to outperform stocks, bonds and gold over the long term, projecting annual returns of around 10%. Continued accumulation by institutional players such as Strategy and Strive, alongside BlackRock’s view of Bitcoin as a potential hedge against rising US government debt, reinforces the longer-term investment case.
Bitcoin and Ethereum are trading near key technical levels, making the next move important for futures traders. Bitcoin needs to sustain momentum above the $83,600 resistance zone to build towards $84,500. On the downside, $82,300 is the immediate support to watch, with the $81,000 level becoming relevant if selling pressure intensifies.
Ethereum faces resistance around $2,470, followed by $2,535. Holding above the $2,410 support zone would help maintain its near-term recovery attempt, while a sustained break below this level could bring $2,375 into focus.
Bitcoin spot ETF flows have shown a sharp swing in institutional demand over the past few sessions. After net outflows on October 14 and 16, US spot Bitcoin ETFs attracted approximately $526.7 million on October 19, their strongest daily inflow since September 22. However, the rebound was largely driven by BlackRock’s IBIT, while some other funds continued to see withdrawals. The latest figures suggest that investor interest remains active, but the direction of flows is not yet consistent enough to establish a sustained accumulation trend.”
- October 21, 2026 08:49
Riya Sehgal, Research Analyst, Delta Exchange, on crypto today
Bitcoin rebounded strongly over the last 24 hours, recovering from the low-$81,000 region and briefly moving above $83,000. The bounce came alongside stronger U.S. equities after encouraging corporate earnings, while a sharp pullback in oil from above $100 helped reduce some of the inflation and interest-rate pressure weighing on risk assets. The move also forced short positions out of the market, with around $125 million in shorts liquidated within an hour, while open interest climbed to roughly $53.9 billion.
Institutional flows have also improved. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs attracted about $526.6 million in net inflows on Oct. 19, indicating that investors were buying into recent weakness. Ethereum ETF demand, however, remains noticeably softer.
From a technical perspective, Bitcoin has moved back above its major 4-hour EMAs, but the $83,200-$83,500 region remains an important resistance area. A clear breakout could shift focus toward $84,000 and then $86,000-$87,000. On the downside, $82,000 is the first support, followed by $81,000-$81,500. Ethereum is also recovering, but still needs to clear the $2,480-$2,520 resistance zone to strengthen its short-term structure.

Stock market update: Morgan Stanley says India chemicals shifting fortunes
El Niño risks supports stronger agchem demand, even as competition caps pricing gains. Selective supply-chain tightness offers margin opportunities. Upgrade Aarti to EW on MMA/ intermediate pricing tailwinds, double-downgrade PI to relative UW on legacy pressures, retain Deepak Nitrite as sole OW.
Changing preferences: We upgrade Aarti to EW, with tighter gasoline markets benefiting its energy portfolio and Chinese supply constraints supporting its agchem, pharma, pigments and dye intermediates (~one-third of revenues). We double-downgrade PI to relative UW, as lagging earnings growth, slow scaling of new businesses and elevated capex could prolong YTD underperformance. Deepak Nitrite remains our sole OW. We update estimates for F26/1Q27 and latest guidance. Key risks: (i) Weaker crop prices or limited El Niño disruption; (ii) persistent Chinese pricing pressure or reversal of supply constraints.

Nomura initiates coverage of Acme Solar with Buy and NTPC Green with Neutral rating
India’s renewable capacity (ex-hydro) has seen strong additions over FY16-FY26, driven by falling capital cost and policy support. As a result, the share of renewable energy (RE) in India’s electricity mix has risen from ~1% in FY06 to ~17% in FY26, creating grid-level challenges: thermal cycling utilisation of ~60–82% in a day, RE curtailments at ~35GW in summer 2026, and non-solar-hour reserve margin 5–6% below the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) optimum margin through FY36E. Energy storage is the critical technology that addresses all these issues, underpinning the thesis, in our view. We prefer Acme Solar (Buy) over NTPC Green (Neutral) as Acme is better placed to capture the energy storage opportunity owing to its faster execution.
Acme Solar (ACMESOLA IN, Buy; TP of INR505): Acme Solar is transitioning from a conventional IPP to a firm, with its dispatchable platform comprising half of its portfolio. This shift delivers superior returns driven by higher utilisation rates, tariffs, and equity IRRs. To support FDRE, Acme plans to install ~25GWh of BESS capacities and pre-commissioned 5GWh+ of BESS, further enhancing project returns. We expect Acme to deliver an EBITDA CAGR of 65% over FY26-FY29F, led by FDRE-led portfolio.
NTPC Green (NTPCGREE IN, Neutral; TP of INR100): NTPC Green’s growth is underpinned by 60GW of its target by FY32, supported by the MoUs signed with state entities and other PSUs. To strengthen its green power, the company plans to add ~34GWh of BESS by FY32, has contracted 3GWh of PSP, and tendered for 12GWh of PSP. We expect NGEL to record 72% EBITDA growth over FY26-FY29F led by strong additions and contracted storage capacities.
