Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayBased on feedback from the last three years, the new San Util Design V2 Panniers are said to be even simpler, yet more useful, with improved stability, a front pocket, and an over-the-top closure. Get all the details here…
First released in 2023, San Util Designs’ Lightweight Panniers and Mini Panniers were praised for their simple yet functional design. Lucas shared his thoughts on the Lightweight Panniers in his Editor’s Dozen, and you can find my thoughts on the waxed canvas Mini Panniers here. Adam, founder of San Util Design, expanded the pannier lineup earlier this year with the addition of the Micro Pannier, which uses the Old Man Mountain FLiP Cage attachment system.
Taking some design cues from the Micro Panniers, the other two models have received a helpful update that doesn’t detract from their simplicity but appears to make them even more functional. The biggest change is moving from the two side buckles on the roll-top closure to a single center side-release buckle, paired with an adjustable compression strap beneath. Overall stability and structure have also been improved with a new laser-cut CSM (Chlorosulfonated Polyethylene) back panel and an HDPE stiffener rod at the upper attachment point.
Borrowed from the Micro Panniers, both the Large Panniers and Mini Panniers now have a stretchy front pocket for stuffing quick-access items, garbage, roadside finds, or anything else that needs a home. There’s also a length of daisy chain webbing across the top of the pocket for those who dare to dangle.
The single side-release buckle on the roll-top closure will likely be slightly quicker to operate, and the center compression strap has a lockable buckle and an aluminum G-hook for swift, reliable access. Both panniers have two upper attachment points designed for Nano Voile Straps and four lower attachment points for velcro or a third strap.
The Large Panniers measure out to 10″ x 10″ x 3.75″ (WxHxD), weigh as little as 164 grams when made with ULTRA 400X, and hold 8-14L. There are several stock colors/fabrics in stock right now, including waxed canvas and ECOPAK EPX for $130, or ULTRA fabric for $150. The Mini Panniers are 8″ x 10″ x 3″ (WxHxD), weigh between 165 grams and 336 grams, depending on the fabric chosen, and hold 4-7L. They are also available in ECOPAK, ULTRA, or waxed canvas, and they are in stock now for $120-$140. The Micro Panniers with the OMM FLiP system are available in stock colors for $105 each, and hold 2.5-4L.
