A top Russian propagandist has issued a chilling warning to Western powers, suggesting a nuclear strike may be Vladimir Putin's only option.
Russian state TV host Vladimir Solovyov made the remarks on his prime-time programme, citing unfounded claims by Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) that Britain and France are "actively working" to provide Ukraine with nuclear weapons.
He said: "The West has manifested itself. We shouldn't harbour any illusions about them and the policies they are currently pursuing may lead, as I've often said in this studio - people didn't believe me, but objectively speaking, this scenario is what everything is coming to - the use of nuclear weapons.
"Especially considering information that came in from the Foreign Intelligence Service, what other options do we have? This is very sad, but who needs the world if Russia won't be in it? This is what our supreme commander-in-chief said."
Footage of the segment, along with an English translation, was shared by Russian Media Monitor, a non-profit organisation that says it aims to "combat Russian propaganda".
