Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (APSPDCL) is keen on meeting its targets both for the installation of rooftop solar systems and for the settlement of bills.

The company, which supplies power to Tirupati, Chittoor, Kadapa, Annamayya, Sri Sathya Sai, Anantapur, Kurnool, Nandyal and Nellore districts, has built a rooftop solar network across 36,963 buildings, with a combined generation capacity of 128 MW.

Based on electricity consumption and surplus power generation, ₹83.88 lakh was credited directly into consumers’ bank accounts towards surplus energy bills in June this year, and ₹68.40 lakh has been marked for credit in July.

APSPDCL Chairman and Managing Director Siva Sankar Lotheti said the bill settlement process for grid-connected rooftop solar systems had been speeded up. The systems are part of the company’s renewable energy programme, and the aim is to serve solar consumers better, he said. “The bills will be settled for the consumers in a transparent manner every month, unlike in the past when a billing cycle for surplus solar units meant three months,” he said.

He asked consumers to take up their grievances by sending a WhatsApp message to 91333 31912, or by calling the toll-free numbers 1912 and 1800 425 155333.

Payments made simpler

The company has also made bill payment simpler.

APSPDCL consumers could earlier pay bills only through the official website, the mobile app, a dynamic QR code and WhatsApp Governance (Mana Mitra). Direct payment has now been enabled through UPI apps such as PhonePe, Paytm, Google Pay and Amazon Pay.
