The Rincón de la Vieja volcano erupted on the morning of Holy Thursday, reported the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory (Ovsicori).

According to experts, the event occurred at 5:25 a.m. and was of short duration.

“Due to cloud cover in the area, there was no direct visibility of the plume,” Ovsicori noted.

However, the eruption was confirmed by seismic signals.

In addition, Ovsicori indicated that this was a small eruption and that the volcano remains at the warning level.

This year, Rincón de la Vieja has not experienced any recurring eruptions. However, it is an active volcano that remains under constant monitoring.

In November 2025, the massif recorded several eruptions over the course of a single weekend, one of which produced a plume of steam and gas that reached a height of nearly 3,000 meters.
