Our Reader’s Rig of the week comes from Mitch in Vienna, Austria, who shares the Pelago Stavanger he’s been pedaling on bikepacking trips close to home and around Europe for the last couple of years. Meet Mitch and see his custom-built Pelago here…

Hi, I’m Mitch Löwenherz. I live and work in Vienna, Austria. As a freelance digital experience designer, I work with startups and small- and medium-sized businesses. I find balance in short and long bikepacking tours, and regular gravel rides also help me unwind from everyday stress.

Together with friends, we plan a longer bikepacking tour each year, usually starting from Tyrol. In recent years, our destinations have been Amsterdam and Paris. Next year, we’re heading to Rome. Kudos to Marco and Andi!

After my first bikepacking tour with a folding bike, I wanted a bicycle that could accompany me both on the road and off-road. The only requirement was that it had a steel frame. After a long period of research, I came across the Pelago Stavanger. Its comfortable geometry, the details, and above all, Pelago’s philosophy, completely won me over. In early 2023, the guys at Citybiker built me a custom Stavanger. After two longer bikepacking tours, I can only confirm that this versatile bike is a truly reliable companion.
