According to a statement issued by Northern Railway on Friday, July 4, 2025, the periodicity of these trains has been extended without any changes to their existing schedule, routes, timings, or composition. This measure aims to provide connectivity for long-distance travelers on popular routes connecting southern and northern regions of the nation. The extended services include the Yesvantpur – Yog Nagari Rishikesh Weekly Summer Special and the Chhapra – MCTM Udhampur Weekly Summer Special. These trains will now operate additional trips on their existing paths, offering extended travel options for passengers heading to destinations across Karnataka, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Jammu & Kashmir, and other states.
Yesvantpur – Yog Nagari Rishikesh – Yesvantpur Weekly Summer Special
The Yesvantpur–Yog Nagari Rishikesh summer special train (06597) which was earlier planned to run until July 10, 2025 between Yesvantpur and Yog Nagari Rishikesh, will now continue up to August 30, 2025.
According to Railways, Train No. 06597 will depart from Yesvantpur Junction to Yog Nagari Rishikesh every Thursday. In the reverse direction, the Yog Nagari Rishikesh-Yesvantpur Weekly Sumer Special (06598) will run from Yog Nagari Rishikesh to Yesvantpur Junction every Saturday.
A total of 8 additional trips have been added in the route.

The Yesvantpur–Yog Nagari Rishikesh Weekly Special train departs from Yesvantpur Junction every Thursday at 7 am and it will cover north region across several states, including Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh before reaching its final destination in Uttarakhand. Similarly, the government has also extended another weekly summer special train between Chhapra and MCTM Udhampur
Chhapra – MCTM Udhampur – Chhapra Weekly Summer Special
The Chhapra – MCTM Udhampur summer special train (05193) that is operating from Chhapra Junction to MCTM Udhampur has extended to cater to demand. Now the train will run on Mondays up to until July 28, 2025. In the reverse route, the train (05194) will operate between MCTM Udhampur and Chhapra on Wednesdays, with extended runs until July 30, 2025.
For this train, two additional trips have been scheduled in each direction, providing connectivity to both pilgrimage destinations and major cities across northern India such as Thawe Junction, Gorakhpur Junction, Gonda Junction, Bareilly, Roorkee, and Ambala Cantt.
