Narayanpet District Collector Ch. Priyanaka along with officials interacting with farmers at a field in Kosgi mandal on Wednesday.

Narayanpet District Collector Ch Priyanka inspected fields adopting modern agricultural practices at Mallareddypally village in Kosgi mandal and launched Project K-100 (100 Farmers – 100 Innovative Activities Programme), an initiative aimed at promoting crop diversification and climate-resilient farming. The project is conceived as a flagship initiative to transform Kosgi division into a model hub of innovative, sustainable, and income-oriented agriculture.

Under this programme, each selected farmer will adopt one unique innovative activity, thereby creating 100 live demonstration models across, agriculture, horticulture, floriculture, livestock & fisheries, and natural farming

During her visit on Wednesday, the Collector reviewed brinjal and green chilli cultivation under mulching, tomato cultivation using the staking method, and floriculture activities. Appreciating the farmers for adopting innovative farming techniques and modern technologies, she said such practices help improve productivity, reduce cultivation costs and enhance farm incomes. She urged farmers across the district to embrace similar methods.

Referring to the anticipated El Nino conditions, Ms. Priyanka advised farmers to cultivate alternative crops, drought-tolerant varieties and short-duration crops to minimise risks. She also stressed the importance of constructing farm ponds for rainwater harvesting and water conservation.

Later, the Collector, along with District Agriculture Officer (DAO) Sakriya Naik, launched Project K-100. Addressing farmers, she underlined the need for crop diversification and encouraged them to complement traditional crops with horticultural crops, vegetables, floriculture and other high-value crops to achieve sustainable and remunerative agriculture.

The Collector said the project would help improve farmers’ incomes, promote sustainable farming practices, and strengthen climate resilience. The district administration would extend full support for the effective implementation of the programme, she said.

As part of the event, vegetable and cotton seeds were distributed to farmers. Around 120 farmers from Kosgi, Maddur, Kothapally and Gundumal mandals participated in the programme, where they were given awareness on crop diversification, climate-resilient agriculture, modern cultivation practices and the benefits of Project K-100.
