India have suffered an injury setback ahead of the third and final ODI against West Indies, with Prasidh Krishna ruled out of the series finale. The fast bowler picked up the injury during the second ODI in Guwahati, where he bowled five overs and took one wicket. The injury leaves India with another change to make for the final game of the series. The team management has moved quickly to bring in a replacement, with the player set to join the squad ahead of the match in New Chandigarh.

Prasidh Krishna ruled out of series finale

Krishna sustained a hamstring injury during the second ODI against West Indies in Guwahati. He bowled five overs in the match, conceding 45 runs and dismissing Keacy Carty before leaving the field during the 31st over. Following the injury, Krishna returned to Bengaluru for further assessment and will now miss the final ODI.

He could also be doubtful for the opening round of the Ranji Trophy, which is scheduled to begin on October 11. West Indies posted a huge total of 405/7 in the second ODI before India chased down the target in 43.3 overs. With the series finale approaching, India will now have to adjust their bowling combination in the absence of Krishna.

Replacement called up for Krishna

India has called up Anshul Kamboj as Krishna’s replacement for the third ODI. He was withdrawn from India A’s four-day game against Australia A in Puducherry to join the senior squad in New Chandigarh. Kamboj has not yet made his ODI debut but has considerable List A experience. The right-arm fast bowler has taken 56 wickets in 35 List A matches at an average of 22.41.

The 25-year-old has also played one Test for India, making his debut during the tour of England last year. He now has an opportunity to make his ODI debut if he is included in India’s playing XI for the series finale. India is already managing a busy international schedule, with Jasprit Bumrah currently in Japan for the Asian Games. Mohammed Siraj, Auqib Nabi and Gurnoor Brar are among the other fast-bowling options in the ODI squad.
