The White House has issued a number of photos showing President Trump and senior administration figures in the Situation Room as the US military carried out attacks on three Iranian nuclear sites.
Trump, shown in a coat and shirt with a red tie, is wearing a red MAGA cap.
Others in the photos include Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and CIA director John Ratcliffe.
The photos are much less formal in nature compared to Situation Room images released during Trump's first term.
In one, he was seen looking at the camera from the head of the table, with generals arrayed on his right and left hands, as the US carried out the assassination of Iranian general Qassem Soleimani.
A CNN global affairs analyst has outlined the risk now faced by US troops and personnel in the Middle East.
"There are US bases in Qatar, in the UAE, in Saudi Arabia, in Bahrain," Barak Ravid said.
"They are all in the range of Iran's missiles, and not even the long-range missiles.
"And the Iranians have thousands of short-range missiles that can reach those US bases. And I think this is now the number-one question: Are the Iranians going to launch this retaliation?"
Iranian authorities had previously said on multiple occasions a US military intervention would provoke retaliation.
An Iranian politician has claimed the Fordow nuclear facility only suffered "superficial" damage in the US strikes.
"Based on accurate information, I state that contrary to the claims of the lying US president, the Fordow nuclear facility has not been seriously damaged and most of what was damaged was only on the ground, which can be restored," Manan Raisi told the Iranian Tasnim news agency.
Raisi represents Qom, the region where Fordow is located.US President Trump earlier claimed the site had been "obliterated".
There have been no radioactive traces detected in Gulf Arab states following the US strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities, according to Saudi Arabia's nuclear regulator.
"No radioactive effects were detected on the environment of the Kingdom, and the Arab Gulf states as a result of the US military targeting of Iran's nuclear facilities," the Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority said in a post on X.
Israel's Airport Authority has announced it was closing the country's airspace to both inbound and outbound flights in the wake of the US attacks on Iranian nuclear sites.
The agency said it was shutting down air traffic "due to recent developments" and did not say for how long.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a video that Trump called him after the strikes.
"It was a very warm conversation, very emotional," Netanyahu said.
Speaking in Hebrew, he called Trump a friend of Israel like no one before him.
"In my name, and on behalf of all citizens of Israel and on behalf of the entire Jewish world, I thank him from the bottom of my heart."
Law enforcement agencies around the US are closely monitoring the situation in the Middle East after the US airstrikes on Iran, tracking intelligence for any potential threats to the homeland.
The Department of Homeland Security, the FBI and other federal, state and local agencies are watching for any response from Iran or others against the US, a federal official familiar with the coordination told CNN.
DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said in a social media post, "We will work unceasingly to protect the American homeland."
