A passenger train derailed and flipped to its side near Lewes in East Sussex, southern England, on Thursday, disrupting several rail routes in the area.Network Rail said a Southern service came off the tracks in the Lewes area shortly before 4 pm BST.

British Transport Police said officers were at the scene near Lewes station along with paramedics and fire crews.Photos from the scene appeared to show at least two carriages overturned on their sides, with emergency workers at the site. There were no immediate reports of injuries or casualties.A spokesperson for Network Rail and Southern Rail said, “We are aware that a passenger train has derailed in the Lewes area of East Sussex.
