BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 20. On November 19, the opening ceremony of the New Robotic Rehabilitation and Bone Marrow Transplant Centers was held at the New Clinic, Trend reports.

Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Arzu Aliyeva, Head of the Baku Media Center and Alena Aliyeva attended the ceremony.

First, an introduction was held for the New Robotic Rehabilitation Center, a facility spanning 3,600 square meters, which is one of the first centers in Azerbaijan to create a technological revolution in the field of rehabilitation.

The center’s primary goal is to restore patients’ functional independence, improve the quality of life and maximize their mobility, thus minimizing the level of disability in the country. The center provides both outpatient and inpatient treatment services.

The facility employs a total of 3 physiotherapists, 1 traumatologist, 4 neurologists, 4 emergency and urgent care doctors, 9 Therapeutic Physical Education (TPE) instructors, 32 physiotherapists-rehabilitation specialists, 17 nurses, 2 massage nurses, and 20 junior medical staff.

The Neurotrauma Department specifically provides inpatient treatment for citizens with head and spinal injuries, as well as crucial rehabilitation services following resuscitation from various medical institutions across the country.

Moreover, the center offers robotic and classical rehabilitation services across number of areas. In the field of neurology, the center will facilitate recovery processes for patients who have experienced strokes, brain and spinal cord injuries, as well as nervous system diseases.

The Orthopedic rehabilitation services ensure the restoration of function and movement following orthopedic surgeries and traumatic injuries.

The Pediatric and Neonatal Rehabilitation aims for the early correction of movement, developmental, and coordination disorders in pediatric patients. The Sports Rehabilitation focuses on restoring functional readiness and athletic performance after sports-related injuries.

The Hand Rehabilitation facilitates post-surgical care, the development of upper extremity motor functions, and the restoration of fine motor skills. The Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation serves to increase physical endurance after diseases of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems. The Geriatric Rehabilitation is aimed at expanding mobility and improving the quality of life in elderly patients.

The Oncological Rehabilitation focuses on ensuring the physical and psychological adaptation of patients following oncological treatments. The center offers specialized gynecological and andrological rehabilitation—using physiotherapy to restore the strength and flexibility of the pelvic floor muscles—in addition to comprehensive services for spinal problem prevention and treatment.

The Rehabilitation in Intensive Care Unit is crucial for the early recovery of patients who have survived critical conditions, and the goal is to strengthen rehabilitation services within intensive care settings of major state hospitals in Azerbaijan.

The new Robotic Rehabilitation Center aims to strengthen its leading position in the world in both robotic and classical rehabilitation. By integrating scientific and technological innovations, the center intends to transform Azerbaijan into an innovative rehabilitation hub. To support this goal, official negotiations for international accreditations are already underway.

The center offers world-class advantages, including robotic locomotion and upper limb rehabilitation systems, 3D-motion analysis, balance and coordination measurement technologies, AI-based assessment and personalized rehabilitation algorithms, a multidisciplinary team consisting of physiotherapists, rehabilitation specialists, neurologists, orthopedists, psychologists and occupational therapists, as well as international training, certification and scientific cooperation opportunities. Equipped with all these features, the center begins operations as a leading institution, pioneering a technological revolution and providing outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation services in Azerbaijan.

The new Robotic Rehabilitation Center is set to open on November 20.

It was noted that the Bone Marrow Transplant Center is a highly specialized medical facility designed to meet modern requirements. The department will be managed by an experienced multidisciplinary team, utilizing the latest scientific achievements for the treatment of hemato-oncological diseases.

The 22-bed department for adults and children will perform both autologous and allogeneic bone marrow transplantation per international protocols. It will provide high-level, integrated treatment care for patients suffering from diseases like leukemia, thalassemia, aplastic anemia, lymphoma and myeloma, significantly reducing the need for patients to seek care abroad.

The transplant units are equipped with HEPA-filtered air flow, full isolation, and a high-level infection control system that meets modern sterilization standards.

The primary objective of the center is to ensure safe and high-quality treatment, apply scientific innovations, and enhance the accessibility of bone marrow transplantation services across the country.

The new center will create wider opportunities for treating hemato-oncological diseases and will continue to operate as an exemplary facility in applying modern medical standards.
