The Oscar winner and Broadchurch star made the unexpected admission about one of her biggest shows.

Olivia Colman has made a surprising confession about one of her biggest shows.

The 52-year-old star said: “My experience with The Crown, I think when it first came out it was so widely advertised it sort of made the rebellious side of me go, ‘I’m not watching that because everyone’s making me watch it.'"

The Broadchurch and The Favourite actress went on to say: “And then I watched it and loved it.”

Oscar winner Colman ended up playing Queen Elizabeth II for seasons three and four of the acclaimed House of Windsor saga created by Peter Morgan, earning her a Primetime Emmy and Golden Globe.

She also reprised her role as the monarch in one scene in the sixth and final outing, alongside her fellow Queen Elizabeth II co-stars Claire Foy and Imelda Staunton.

The star went on to share some behind-the-scenes details: “Whenever we had scenes when the whole pretend Royal Family were together we just had a ball.

“So I’ve been paid to go and have a giggle everyday. It was lovely.”

She also admitted that she was “obsessed” with reality series Married at First Sight.

Colman was speaking on the 2023 edition of Vogue’s The Ultimate British Taste Test, episodes of which recently landed on Netflix.

In the episode, Colman was seen trying British culinary delights while blindfolded and trying to guess what each dish was.

Among the food she had to sample included fish and chips, a Sunday roast, Scotch eggs and a sticky toffee pudding, which she admitted was her favourite dessert.

At the start of the video, Colman showed off her beer-pouring prowess as she pulled a pint at the pub she was filming in.

Some of the other episodes of The Ultimate British Taste include one with Midsommar star Florence Pugh, Harry Potter favourite Emma Watson and Bridgerton’s Nicola Coughlan.

The Ultimate British Taste Test is just one of a number of short form culture videos that Netflix has now put on the platform - and all of them come in at under 20 minutes.

Under Netflix’s The Culture Edit, viewers can also watch videos from Architectural Digest’s Open Door, Vanity Fair’s Lie Detector Test, and Buzzfeed’s Homebodies.

The Culture Edit will feature licensed content for old videos and new alike.
