The Nigerian Army has announced a major redeployment of senior officers, including a change in the leadership of Operation HADIN KAI, the military’s main operation against Boko Haram and other terrorist groups in northeastern Nigeria. Major General IA Ajose has been appointed Theatre Commander of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI. He replaces Major General AE Abubakar, who has been redeployed to the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre as Dean, Faculty of Operational Research. The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, approved the strategic redeployment of several senior officers across operational, command and staff appointments. The Nigerian Army says the changes are aimed at strengthening operational effectiveness, improving leadership and aligning its command structure with Nigeria’s evolving security environment. Several brigadier generals have also received new postings across key formations and operational commands.
