Tributes have poured in for late action star Chuck Norris.

Tributes have poured in for Hollywood star Chuck Norris, who died on Friday. The family of the famous actor shared the news via social media, saying that he had died following a short stay in a Hawaii hospital.

Taking to social media early on Friday, the star’s family announced the news in a statement that reads:

“It is with heavy hearts that our family shares the sudden passing of our beloved Chuck Norris yesterday morning. While we would like to keep the circumstances private, please know that he was surrounded by his family and was at peace.”

Tributes for the star have since been pouring in from notable figures who’ve shared thoughtful posts reflecting on Norris’ legacy.

Fellow action hero Sylvester Stallone led the pack, taking to Instagram with a touching message.

The Oscar-nominated actor, who co-starred with Norris in the 2012 action thriller The Expendables 2, wrote: “I had a great time working with Chuck.” Stallone, 79, shared the message alongside a photo of the pair.

“He was all-American in every way. Great man, and my condolences to his wonderful family.”

Norris’ co-star and fellow action hero in The Expendables 2, Jean-Claude Van Damme, similarly reflected on their decades-long friendship in an emotional Instagram post.

“Deepest condolences on the passing of my friend, Chuck Norris,” Van Damme wrote. “We knew each other from my early days, and I always respected the man he was. My heart and prayers are with his family. He will never be forgotten.”

Actor Terry Crews, who also appeared with Norris in The Expendables 2, said in a statement to USA TODAY that working with the renowned actor was “one of the greatest privileges of my life”.

US President Donald Trump also paid his respects, telling reporters outside the White House that Norris was a “great guy” and “tough cookie”.

“You didn’t want to fight him, I’ll tell you,” Trump said.

Norris’ daughter, Danielle, said: “He may have a warrior exterior, but his heart was so full of love, and I’m so grateful that it is something he and my mom passed down to me.”

One of his grandchildren, Greta, paid tribute to the actor in an Instagram post that referenced the “Chuck Norris facts” genre of internet jokes, which played on Norris’ persona as a tough guy and invincible fighter.

“You all knew Chuck Norris as the man who counted to infinity twice, the man who got bit by a cobra, and the cobra died,” she said.

“He was the man who would not do a push-up but would push the earth down.

“Chuck Norris was known for many amazing things, but what I am most proud of is that I got to know him as my Papa.”
