Gauteng police have yet to arrest anyone following a mass shooting that claimed the lives of four teenagers and left one man injured and one unharmed in Bronkhorstspruit.
They were attacked on Friday at approximately 23:30 on a gravel road near Vlaakfontein farm.
According to police spokesperson Brigadier Brenda Muridili, the car in which the victims were travelling was shot at by a suspect related to two of the victims.
“The vehicle had six occupants. Four of the victims, aged between 16 and 19, were declared dead at the scene, while a 60-year-old man sustained injuries and a 21-year-old man escaped unharmed,” she said.
“The suspect reportedly fled the scene on foot.”

Muridili stated that the motive for the attack would form part of the investigation and dismissed reports claiming the shooting was linked to illegal mining activities.
A case involving four counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder is being investigated by the Murder and Robbery Unit from the Provincial Serious and Violent Crimes Investigations.
Muridili urged anyone with information to call Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or send tip-offs via the MySAPS application.
