Tension In Thane As MNS Workers Detained Ahead Of Rally; Fadnavis Says Nod Not Granted

In response to the protest march by non-Marathi traders, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) was scheduled to hold a rally from 10 am today. The march will pass through commercial areas in Mira Road that have a high concentration of non-Marathi residents.

However, ahead of the rally, Thane Police have taken MNS leader Avinash Jadhav into custody. Avinash Jadhav is the Thane district president of MNS and the organiser of the rally. READ MORE

‘Not 100% Firm’: Trump On August 1 Tariff Deadline After Sending Letters To 14 Countries

US President Donald Trump on Monday said he was “not 100% firm" on his new August 1 deadline to impose reciprocal tariffs, or reach trade deals, after he threatened 14 countries with additional tariffs on their imports.

Trump sent letters to 14 countries on Monday, including Japan, South Korea and Bangladesh, announcing more levies on their goods, causing fresh uncertainty in the global economy. READ MORE

In Big Move, Nitish Kumar Announces 35% Quota For Women In Govt Jobs Ahead Of Polls

In a significant move ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government announced 35% reservation for women candidates in all government services and posts. The decision was taken after a Cabinet meeting on the matter.

All women candidates, who are original residents of Bihar, will be given 35% reservation in all direct recruitment for government services and jobs. This came after the Bihar Cabinet gave the green light to form the Bihar Youth Commission. READ MORE

Ghaziabad Police To Record Victim’s Statement After Yash Dayal Booked For Sexual Exploitation

The Ghaziabad police is set to record the statement of the woman who has leveled serious allegations against cricketer Yash Dayal. The statement will be taken in front of a magistrate after the woman accused Dayal of “emotionally, mentally, and physically" exploiting her on the false pretext of marriage.

Following the statement, a medical examination of the victim will be done. As per sources, the woman has submitted electronic evidence against Dayal, which the police are now in the process of verifying. Officials close to the investigation have stated that no action will be taken until the victim’s statement is officially recorded in court. READ MORE

Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket team Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Tuesday filed a plea before the Karnataka High Court questioning the remarks made against it by the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) in connection to the June 4 Chinnaswamy Stadium Stampede.
