The latest trailer for upcoming Christmas epic Jumanji: Open World has been released online by Sony Pictures.

The film sees the video game avatars, played by Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan, appear in the same reality as the real human characters we’ve seen from the first two films (Alex Wolff, Morgan Turner, Madison Iseman, and Ser’Darius Blain). With Awkwafina, Danny DeVito and pop star Nick Jonas also returning to their roles. Dwayne Johnson is also producing.

This film is directed by Jake Kasdan, who also directed the previous two instalments, 2017’s Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and 2019’s Jumanji: The Next Level. Kasdan is co-writing the film alongside Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg, who have penned all of this trilogy so far. The synopsis of the film up a bit talking about how after having “escaped the perilous jungles of Jumanji before, this time Jumanji breaks free of its console, unleashing its chaos into our world.”

The concept of Jumanji was first seen in a children’s picture book by Chris Van Allsburg, which followed two siblings finding an enchanted board game that opens a door to a magical world when weird things begin to happen. It’s most famous adaptation is the 1995 Joe Johnston film titled Jumanji, starring Robin Williams and a young Kirsten Dunst, which is technically set in the same universe as the new trilogy.

Barry Waldman, Melvin Mar, Sky Salem Robinson, Jeff Pinkner, Scott Rosenberg, Chris Van Allsburg, William Teitler, Ted Field, Mike Weber are executive producing.

Jumanji: Open World will be released in cinemas this Christmas.
