An upper air cyclonic circulation persisting over north coastal Tamil Nadu is expected to bring rains to 10 northern districts of the state on Sunday (June 14, 2026).

According to the Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai, moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorm and lightning is likely to occur over Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, Chennai, Tiruvannamalai, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Pudukkottai, Cuddalore, Villupuram and Kallakurichi districts and Puducherry.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast partly cloudy skies with thunder and lightning in Delhi for Sunday (June 14, 2026), even though no significant weather warnings have been issued. As the system weakens and shifts further away, its impact on Delhi is expected to reduce from Sunday (June 14, 2026) onwards.

Uttar Pradesh witnessed a change in weather conditions on Saturday (June 13, 2026), with several districts reporting rainfall, while Kanpur City recorded the highest precipitation in the state at 67.6 mm, according to the IMD.

    Rajasthan | Light rainfall in various areas; Jaipur's Chomu records highest downpour of 44 mm

    Light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning was recorded at a few places in eastern Rajasthan during the last 24 hours, while light rain occurred at isolated locations in the western part of the State.

    The highest rainfall of 44 mm was recorded in Chomu town in Jaipur district.

    Meanwhile, heavy rain with gusty winds of speed reaching 40- 50 kmph is expected in Delta districts such as Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam and Mayiladuthurai and Karaikal area.

    Andhra Pradesh | Prakasam Barrage gates opened

    Uttar Pradesh | Several districts report rainfall; Kanpur City records highest precipitation

    Uttar Pradesh witnessed a change in weather conditions on Saturday, with several districts reporting rainfall, while Kanpur City recorded the highest precipitation in the state at 67.6 mm, according to the India Meteorological Department.

    In eastern Uttar Pradesh, Ankinghat in Kanpur City received 67.6 mm of rainfall, followed by Bhatpurwaghat in Sitapur with 44.8 mm. Kanpur IAF and Kanpur Observatory recorded 42 mm and 38.4 mm rainfall, respectively.

    Other places with major rainfall included 36.1 mm at Farrukhabad’s Kaimganj, Fatehgarh CWC 31.6 mm, Sitapur’s Neemsar 29 mm and Kannauj’s Tirwa 17 mm.

    Lucknow airport recorded 8.8 mm of rainfall, while Sitapur received 7 mm and Misrikh 6 mm. Light to moderate rainfall was also reported from several locations in Unnao, Hardoi, Barabanki and Lucknow districts.

    Uttar Pradesh | Two women, minor killed in lightning strike in Chandauli

    Two women and a minor girl were killed after being struck by lightning in Chandauli district, while seven people were injured when a dilapidated roof and tin shed collapsed in Kannauj amidst heavy rain and strong winds across parts of Uttar Pradesh on Saturday.

    These incidents occurred as weather conditions in several districts of the state shifted, bringing rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds.

    In Chandauli district, Shakuntala (68), wife of Ramchandra and a resident of Bajardiha village under the Chakraghatta police station area, died after lightning struck her during a storm on Saturday afternoon.

    Tamil Nadu | Scattered rainfall likely in various districts till Monday

    An upper-air cyclonic circulation over north coastal Tamil Nadu will bring scattered rainfall over various parts of the State till June 15, providing a respite from the searing heat.

    The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has forecast that heavy rainfall may occur over the delta districts, including Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, and Mayiladuthurai, on Sunday. The weather system would also trigger moderate rainfall over the north Tamil Nadu districts, including Chennai, Perambalur, Cuddalore, and Kallakurichi, today.
