Young women in Costa Rica interested in science, technology, and engineering have a groundbreaking opportunity ahead of them this year. For the first time ever, Universidad Fidélitas will host Patrones Hermosos (Beautiful Patterns), an international camp developed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Tecnológico de Monterrey designed to encourage female participation in STEM fields.

This international initiative will gather high school seniors for a completely free experience focused on engineering, technology, mathematics, and innovation.

📅 Key Details of the Event

Dates: July 6 to July 10, 2026

Location: Innovation Building, Universidad Fidélitas (San Pedro Campus)

Target Audience: High school seniors aged 17 and 18

Cost: Completely FREE (Includes meals for all attendees)

What to Expect: Five Days of Innovation and Learning

Over the course of five days, participants will dive into a dynamic curriculum designed to develop computational thinking and problem-solving skills. The camp offers a closer look at future-proof careers through:

  • Interactive workshops and hands-on activities
  • Inspiring conferences and group dynamics
  • Direct mentorship from Universidad Fidélitas faculty and Engineering/Architecture students
  • Networking opportunities with representatives from leading technology and innovation companies

“Sparking an interest in engineering, technology, and innovation in girls from an early stage is essential to forming the professionals who will lead the country’s transformation. Hosting Patrones Hermosos represents an extraordinary opportunity to connect young women with real learning experiences, show them the impact of STEM careers, and connect them with role models that allow them to visualize their professional future.” — Melania Solano, Dean of Engineering at Universidad Fidélitas

Closing the Gender Gap in STEM

Born from a powerful collaboration between MIT’s Geospatial Data Center and the School of Engineering and Sciences at Tecnológico de Monterrey, Patrones Hermosos aims to bridge the female participation gap in STEM disciplines.

Now in its ninth international edition, the program has already impacted thousands of students across the region. Costa Rica’s inclusion reflects a shared commitment by Universidad Fidélitas, Tecnológico de Monterrey, and MIT to expand access to educational spaces that foster female talent in the industries of the future.

🚀 How to Apply

Space is limited, and interested students must secure authorization from their legal guardians to participate. Don’t miss out on this life-changing academic and professional experience!
