UK weather: Met Office forecasts return to heat following rain

Some much-needed rain will fall across the UK on Monday.

Although the Met Office expects a pleasant and sunny day for many tomorrow, some regions will see rain which will spread eastward throughout the day.

Rain is expected to impact northern areas initially before drifting eastward. The showers are expected to be light, although the Met Office says they could turn heavy over western hills.

Met Office meteorologist Honor Criswick said: “Heading into Monday, once again [we will see] a bit of a mix. We’ll see some cloud, some showers, mostly feeding into western areas, making their way eastwards. The showers will be mostly light, and many areas of England and Wales are going to be dry once again with some sunshine.”

Temperatures are expected to start climbing again tomorrow, with 26-27C highs possible in the south-east of England. The mercury should reach 30C on Tuesday, with the Met Office saying another heatwave is on the cards next week.

The Met Office’s weather maps show rain falling in 49 counties across the UK tomorrow.
