Today, Marin Bikes introduces its very first electric drop bar bike, the Lombard E. This all-new model is based on the highly versatile non-electric bike of the same name, but with the addition of the Bosch SX Sprint drive system and an integrated 400 Wh battery. According to Marin, “this isn’t just a gravel bike with a motor slapped on. It’s a multi-surface drop bar dream machine that laughs at terrain changes.”

The non-electric Lombard 2 came out back in 2019 and has remained relatively unchanged since then. Originally conceived as an urban bike, the Lombard grew into its role as a commuter and ultimately into a multi-surface bike that doesn’t shy away from dirt detours. The Lombard E mirrors that bike’s versatile design, but adds electric assist to take riders further, faster, and higher than ever before.

Marin Lombard E Details

The Lombard E features a new Series 4 Aluminum frame and comes with a full carbon fork. Bosch’s mid-drive SX Sprint Motor puts out up to 60 Nm of torque and up to 600 Watts of peak power. That’s paired with a removable 400 Wh battery, stored neatly in the downtube of the frame. The brand did not specify a top speed, but we know that this motor system offers multiple pedal assist levels and is capable of speeds up to 28 mph. Marin Bikes says, “With this kind of power and versatility, the world literally opens up to your wheels. And that’s the whole point.

Key Specs

  • New Series 4 Beyond Road hydroformed aluminum frame — light, tough, and ready for anything
  • Full carbon fork — because comfort matters on those long rides
  • Bosch SX Sprint motor — the power you need, exactly when you need it
  • 400Wh internal battery — sleek, integrated, and ready to go the distance
  • Massive tire clearance — bring on the chunky rubber (up to 50mm)

The Lombard E will be available in sizes S to XL, with a geometry that appears to be relatively neutral and biased toward all-day comfort, versatility, and predictable handling. The 50 mm tire clearance provides the opportunity to take advantage of the comfort and performance offered by many of today’s modern, wider gravel tires. A number of mounts on the frame and fork accommodate bottles, racks, fenders, and other bolt-on accessories.
