Global sales for maple sweets exporters totaled US$628.8 million during 2024.
That dollar metric results from a 25.8% increase from five years earlier in 2020 when globally exported maple syrup and maple sugar were worth $499.7 million.
Year over year, worldwide exports of maple syrup and sugar accelerated by 14.2% compared to $550.5 starting from 2023.
Maple syrup is commonly poured on pancakes, waffles, oatmeal, porridge or French toast.
Maple syrup is also used as an ingredient for baked goods and as a sweetener or flavor agent for foods and drinks. Maple syrup candies and maple sugar are tasty treats.
The world’s top maple sweets exporter is Canada, accounting for 83.3% of all maple syrup and sugar exported in 2024 by value.
From a continental perspective, 90.8% of exported sweet maple goods originated from North America’s Canada and United States (no maple syrup originated from Mexico).
Another 8.7% worth came from sources in Europe.
Tinier percentages of maple sugar products originated from Asia (0.31%), Oceania (0.13%) only New Zealand and Australia, Africa (0.08%), then Latin America (0.05%) excluding Mexico but including the Caribbean.

By value, the listed 15 countries shipped 99.4% of globally exported maple syrup and sugar in 2024.
Among the top exporters, the fastest-growing maple syrup exporters from 2023 to 2024 were: New Zealand (up 679.3%), mainland China (up 460.7%), Slovenia (up 298.1%) and Spain (up 49.4%).
Those countries that posted declines in their exported maple syrup sales were led by: United Kingdom (down -34.1% from 2023), Italy (down -5.6%), Germany (down -5%), Netherlands (down -1.4%) and France (down -1.3%).
The most valuable international markets that buy imported maple syrup and sugar are the United States of America which consumed roughly half (51.2%) of maple sweets in 2024. Other top importers include Germany, United Kingdom, Japan, France, Mexico, Netherlands and Australia.
