Some Love Island fans think they know what went on between Shakira and Ben before a frosty moment during the bombshell twist.

The pair had been coupled up at the start of the launch show, before they were later seen getting to know each other. Then as host Maya Jama headed back into the villa to drop some big news, things seemed awkward between them with Ben asking the host to "give them a few days".

As the pair had spoken together moments before it didn't seem to be going too well, but fans didn't spot anything that would suggest a row or "bickering", as Maya noted, had occurred. But as Maya was getting an update on how all the couples were doing, it was clear neither of them were thrilled about what had gone down.

This led to fans wondering what had gone on between the pair and whether there had been some "missing scenes". Fans started to speculate an unaired row had happened as they could not work out what has happened to lead to such an awkward situation between them.

Their co-stars also seemed to pick up on the mood, before a bombshell came in and changed everything. Toni was tasked with stealing a boy and she chose Ben, leaving Shakira single.

But some fans think they did notice a moment between the now former couple that could explain their tense and distant behaviour. Viewers noticed during their chat earlier on that Shakira seemed unimpressed by the answers to her questions as she asked about him and his thoughts on her.

Some fans also thought Ben's response to some of her comments and his body language made it evident he didn't want to be with her, and he "wasn't even trying to hide it". With him suggesting they had a "love/hate" relationship, fans were sure his comments about her did not go down well and led to their frosty reaction to each other when Maya quizzed them on their pairing.

As some viewers wondered if a secret row had not been aired, one fan posted on X: "I think Shakira was disappointed with Ben's answers," while another guessed: "Ben saying he’s not sure if he can put up with Shakira has gone right into red flag territory." A third fan said: "Ben doesn’t like Shakira AT ALL!"

A fourth fan wrote: "Feeling horrible for Shakira right now Ben is not even trying to hide the fact he does not like her at all." A further post read: "I said he doesn’t like Shakira."

Other fans shared their confusion over the sudden tension between them. A fan posted: "Did I miss something between Shakira and Ben, wdym love/hate relationship? The first day isn’t even over yet."

Viewers will have to wait until Tuesday's episode to see the fallout of Shakira being left single, after Toni stole Ben.

Fans commented that Ben appeared to smirk over the decision, as Shakira faces being dumped from the villa.
