Bleecker Street have released the first trailer for the upcoming thriller Relay, from acclaimed filmmaker David Mackenzie, which you can watch below!

First premiering at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival, Relay stars Riz Ahmed (Sound of Metal, The Phoenician Scheme) as a cautious fixer who falls for his newest client, played by Lily James (The Iron Claw, Pam & Tommy). Sam Worthington (Avatar), Willa Fitzgerald (Strange Darling), Jared Abrahamson, Victor Garber (Titanic), and Matthew Maher co-star.

Official synopsis:

In Relay, Riz Ahmed plays a world-class ‘fixer’ who specializes in brokering lucrative payoffs between corrupt corporations and the individuals who threaten their ruin. He keeps his identity a secret through meticulous planning and always follows an exacting set of rules. But when a message arrives one day from a potential client (Lily James) needing his protection just to stay alive, the rules quickly start to change.

Director Mackenzie first came to prominence with 2003’s Young Adam, starring Ewan McGregor and Tilda Swinton, before helming Hallam Foe, Perfect Sense (reteaming with McGregor), Starred Up, Hell or High Water and Outlaw King in 2018, his last feature, as well as directing two episodes of series Under The Banner of Heaven, starring Andrew Garfield.

Ahmed will next be seen in a new adaptation of Hamlet with Morfydd Clark, before he stars alongside Tom Cruise in Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s latest in 2026. James, meanwhile, has Finally Dawn released later this year, before she stars in the new remake of Cliffhanger, starring alongside Pierce Brosnan, Nell Tiger Free and Franz Rogowski.
