Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayIn an exclusive from Deadline, it has been confirmed that Academy Award nominee Lily Gladstone will be joining the remake of The Thomas Crown Affair. Gladstone will be starring alongside Kenneth Branagh, who was also announced earlier today, Taylor Russell and Michael B. Jordan, who is set to direct the project as well.
This announcement comes fresh off the reveal of Branagh’s involvement with the movie, which came from producer Charles Roven this morning. No further information has been revealed about the roles Gladstone and Branagh will be playing, but it is known that they will be supporting roles to Jordan and Russell, who will lead the movie.
The movie is set to start production this summer under Amazon MGM Studios, with plot details remaining under wraps. Both the 1968 and 1999 movies revolved around a wealthy, thrill-seeking man who orchestrates a high-stakes robbery simply for the challenge, only to become entangled in a complex cat-and-mouse game with a brilliant investigator.
This reimagining of The Thomas Crown Affair will use a script written by Drew Pearce based on an early draft by Wes Tooke and Justin Britt-Gibson, which took considerable inspiration from the original 1968 movie. The project will also have Alan Trustman, who wrote the original, serving as executive producer with Marc Toberoff producing alongside Roven.
Lily Gladstone has made a name for herself starring projects such as Certain Women, Billions and First Cow, but most notably becoming the first Native American to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress for her starring role in Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon. Since then, she has starred in Erica Tremblay’s Fancy Dance and Morrisa Maltz’s indie drama Jazzy. Upcoming projects include the likes of Mark Pellington’s Lone Wolf and indie comedy In Memoriam.
Branagh, who is fresh off a string of collaborations with Christopher Nolan, will be next seen in Reed van Dyk’s debut feature Atonement and action comedy Mayday, where he’ll star opposite Ryan Reynolds.
The Thomas Crown Affair is slated for an exclusive theatrical release on March 5th, 2027.
