A man from Kanpur Dehat's Rasoolabad married off his wife to her lover Vikas Dwivedi with the Panchayat's consent, in a temple with police and villagers present.

A 40-year-old man from Kanpur got his wife married to her lover after 15 years of marriage. The incident is reported from Kanpur Dehat’s Rasoolabad and the Panchayat also gave consent to the termination of marriage.

Yogesh Tiwari, a labourer, married Soni, daughter of Kripa Shankar Mishra from Aurangpur Sambhi, in May 2010. However, even after the marriage, Soni was in an illicit affair with Kannauj resident Vikas Dwivedi, Times of India reported.

After the husband got to know about his wife’s extramarital affair, he confronted her, and soon Soni left her husband’s house. However, she returned on Monday along with her lover Vikas. When Yogesh got to know about Vikas’ presence in the village, he alerted the police.

Vikas fled from the village, but after knowing Soni’s intention and love for Vikas, Yogesh asked him to return. A panchayat meeting was held, and Soni gave her written consent that she wants to marry Vikas and release Yogesh from all marital obligations.

Later on, Yogesh organised Soni and Vikas’ wedding at a temple near Tisti police post. The duo got married in the presence of police officials and villagers. Yogesh and Soni’s 12-year-old son accompanied his mother.

Last week, a similar case was reported from Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda. Here, a man arranged the wedding of his wife of fifteen years to another man in a village. A PTI report citing locals stated that the marriage was held on Thursday evening at a temple, and the man, in the presence of a priest, washed off the sindoor from his wife’s forehead and saw her exchange garlands with the other man.

42-year-old Harishchandra allegedly caught his wife Karishma, 36, with Shivraj Chauhan on Tuesday. However, Karishma denied the affair and claimed that the entire thing was forced upon her. She said she had a discourse with her husband and not any affair with Shivraj.

Harishchandra and Karishma have two children. After the temple marriage, Karishma took their daughter with her, while their son remained with Harishchandra.
