Netanyahu made the comments in an interview with ABC News. U.S. officials told Reuters that U.S. President Donald Trump had vetoed an Israeli plan in recent days to kill Khamenei. Meanwhile, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz warned Khamenei could face the same fate as Iraq's Saddam Hussein. "Remember what happened to the dictator in the country neighbouring Iran who took this path against the State of Israel," Katz said. And Israel's military announced it had killed Ali Shadmani, who it identified as Iran’s wartime chief of staff and was the most senior military commander and closest man to Iran's Supreme Leader.
