Iran has reportedly rejected the second round of peace talks with the US they day before they were due to go ahead. The state IRNA news agency reported Tehran's absence is due to "Washington's excessive demands, unrealistic expectations, constant shifts in stance, repeated contradictions, and the ongoing naval blockade".
US Vice President JD Vance was due to head Washington's delegation in Islamabad, Pakistan, before Donald Trump said he had to pull out for "security concerns". Now that tomorrow's talks appear off the cards, it raises questions as to whether the current two-week ceasefire, which comes to an end on Wednesday, will be renewed.

The US President warned that the country will be "blown up" if they fail to agree on a new deal. "If they don't sign this deal, the whole country is getting blown up," he told Fox News.
He added in a furious post on Truth Social that "bridges and power plants will be targeted if Iran does not sign this agreement".
Mr Trump launched the outburst after Iran quickly reversed its decision to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, with shots fired at vessels passing through the vital route.
He raged: "Iran decided to fire bullets yesterday in the Strait of Hormuz — A Total Violation of our Ceasefire Agreement! Many of them were aimed at a French Ship, and a Freighter from the United Kingdom.
"That wasn’t nice, was it? My Representatives are going to Islamabad, Pakistan — They will be there tomorrow evening, for Negotiations.
"Iran recently announced that they were closing the Strait, which is strange, because our BLOCKADE has already closed it.

"They’re helping us without knowing, and they are the ones that lose with the closed passage, $500 Million Dollars a day! The United States loses nothing.
"In fact, many Ships are headed, right now, to the U.S., Texas, Louisiana, and Alaska, to load up, compliments of the IRGC, always wanting to be 'the tough guy!'"
