The focus now shifts to the third and final ODI, with India set to face the West Indies at the PCA International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh. With the series already decided, the final encounter offers both sides an opportunity to finish the campaign on a positive note.

The second ODI in Guwahati produced a spectacular batting exhibition, with both teams crossing the 400-run mark. West Indies posted a record 405/7, their highest-ever ODI total against India, after centuries from Shai Hope, Amir Jangoo and John Campbell. India, however, produced an extraordinary response in the chase, reaching 406/2 in only 43.3 overs to complete a remarkable victory and take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.

India’s successful chase was headlined by captain Shubman Gill, who remained unbeaten on a sensational 223 to register a record-breaking double century. Rohit Sharma also played a key role at the top of the order, smashing a rapid 101 from just 75 deliveries to set the platform for India’s commanding chase.

As the teams prepare for the final ODI, the West Indies will once again be led by Hope. After conceding more than 400 runs in the previous game, the visitors will be looking for a much-improved bowling performance. India, meanwhile, have already secured the series but will be keen to maintain their momentum and complete a clean sweep.

PCA International Cricket Stadium ODI Record

Punjab’s cricket grounds have traditionally provided competitive surfaces, offering assistance to pace bowlers early in an innings while also allowing batters to score freely once they settle down. The PCA International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh has produced similarly competitive contests in its ODI fixtures.

The overall numbers at the venue suggest a relatively even battle between teams batting first and those chasing. Of the matches played at the stadium, sides batting first and bowling first have recorded one victory each.

The average first-innings score at the ground is 286 runs, indicating that teams have generally been able to post competitive totals. The average score in the second innings, however, stands at 236, suggesting that chasing can become more challenging as the match progresses.

Highest Total at PCA International Cricket Stadium

The highest team total recorded at the venue is 292/10, scored by India Women against Australia Women in 49.5 overs. Australia Women demonstrated their chasing ability in the same contest, reaching 282/2 in 44.1 overs while pursuing the target. Meanwhile, the lowest total at the venue is 190/10, recorded by Australia Women in 40.5 overs.

The lowest successful defence at the stadium came when a total of 292 was successfully defended. These records indicate that although the conditions can provide plenty of opportunities for batters, accurate and disciplined bowling can still make a significant difference as an innings develops.
