An Emirates cabin crew member has confirmed the fears staff share when war results in airspace closure. Naina Gill opened up about the things many never get to see

Thousands of people have been stuck in Dubai and the Middle East as a result of airspace closures in recent days, with Emirates having issued an important update to travellers. However, if you're wondering how things really play out when you work on a plane, an Emirates cabin crew member recently confirmed the fears staff often share during wars.

Naina Gill admitted she's "proud" to be a cabin crew member, but she also confessed it can come with difficulties during times of unrest. Since Saturday, when President Donald Trump confirmed the US is working with Israel to try and bring down Iran's current regime, travel chaos has struck various parts of the Middle East.

In a candid post, she said: "Behind every uniform is a human heart. Reporting with strength, despite uncertainty." It comes after Emirates confirmed when flights would start resuming following the conflict.

She said there are major things people don't realise actually happen when an airspace closes due to war. Naina said flights get cancelled "within seconds", and months of planning gets instantly wiped away.

Naina said: "Crew get stuck in foreign countries. Some of my friends are literally stuck in different countries right now, waiting for airspace to re-open.

"[There's] no clear timeline. You don't know if you're going tomorrow or after 10 days.

"Fear at 35,000ft, passenger panic, families panic, and we still have to smile and stay calm. Re-routes, longer duty hours.

"When airspace closes, flights take longer routes. What was eight hours becomes 12 hours. Exhaustion increases.

"Emotional pressure, your family messaging you 'are you safe? where are you now?', but you're still in uniform. Still working."

The video, which appears to be shared from Dubai, has got many people talking. Sometimes we don't realise just what cabin crew members have to go through to ensure our journeys are as safe and calm as possible.

One person turned to their faith, writing: "Psalm 121:7-8 reminds us of God's unwavering presence and protection in every moment of our lives. It is a promise that the Lord, who neither slumbers nor sleeps, is constantly watching over us, shielding us from harm, and guiding our every step. Amen. Stay blessed."

Another added: "God Bless you." To this, Naina replied: "Thank you, may God bless you too."

Etihad and Emirates, based in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, announced they were suspending flights following the strikes from the US and Israel on Iran and its reciprocal attacks on neighbouring countries. On Monday, Etihad and Emirates confirmed they would operate flights again but, at the time, Dubai’s government said it would have a "limited resumption of operations".

Passengers were told only to go to the airport if they had been contacted directly. A statement from Emirates read: "Emirates will begin operating a limited number of flights commencing on the evening of 2 March. We are accommodating customers with earlier bookings as a priority, and those who have been rebooked to travel on these limited flights will be contacted directly by Emirates.

"Please do not go to the airport unless you have been notified. All other flights remain suspended until further notice. Emirates continues to monitor the situation, and we will develop our operational schedule accordingly. Updates will be published on our website and official social media channels.

"We would like to thank our customers for their understanding and patience. The safety and security of our passengers and crew remain our highest priority."
