Janak Raj, former executive director of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and a former internal member of the central bank’s Monetary Policy  Committee, says — in an email interview with Subrata Panda — that if the weighting of food in the consumption basket is expected to decline further as income levels rise, that could provide ground to consider a lower target for the headline inflation rate.
