The government has presented Safety Awards to nine railway department employees in recognition of their exceptional alertness and dedication to safety during duty in the award ceremony, held at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Mumbai.

Nine employees from Central Railway were honoured with Safety Awards for their exceptional alertness and dedication to ensuring safe train operations. The awardees are from five divisions, including Mumbai, Pune, and Nagpur. They (employee) received a medal, a commendation certificate, a citation for exemplary safety work, and a cash prize of Rs 2,000.

Here are the details of these employees:

Mumbai division

From the Mumbai Division, Nivrutti Pandurang Mhatre, Head Booking Clerk, was recognised for identifying a rail fracture and promptly alerting authorities. Amol Santosh Devre, a Railway Protection Force personnel awarded for bravely rescuing a visually impaired man who had fallen onto the tracks.

Solapur division

In the Solapur Division, Birmani Bir, Deputy Station Manager, stopped a goods train after noticing a hanging part from a wagon. Rajesh Ajmire, also a Deputy Station Manager, took immediate action after spotting a loose part on a departing train.

Atish Lambture, Pointsman, reported a loose piston rod during the arrival of a goods train.

Nagpur division

From the Nagpur Division, Rakesh Kumar, Senior Train Manager, detected a missing spring during a train inspection and informed the concerned authorities.

Vishu Bhimrao Dofe, a Technician (C&W), identified a broken brake disc during a routine examination and took timely action to prevent an incident.

Pune division

The Pune Division employee, Mayur Kamble (Loco Pilot) applied emergency brakes after noticing a collapsed wall section on the tracks, thereby averting a possible accident.

Bhusaval division

From the Bhusaval Division, Mayur Sapkale, Assistant Loco Pilot, discovered a broken pantograph plate strip during a loco inspection and immediately reported it.

During the event, Dharam Veer Meena, General Manager, said that such acts of dedication serve as an inspiration to others and contribute to the safety of passengers, freight, and railway property.

The event was attended by Prateek Goswami (Additional General Manager), Chandra Kishore Prasad (Principal Chief Safety Officer), and other senior railway officials.
