OneUp Re-Ride

At OneUp

OneUp Components Inline Pump Mount

OneUp Components has launched Re-Ride, a peer-to-peer marketplace for buying and selling verified, pre-owned OneUp products in the U.S. and Canada. Sellers upload photos and details about their parts, ship directly to the buyer using a prepaid label, and can choose to receive 80% of the sale price in cash or 100% as OneUp store credit. We have bottles with our Ride Camp Repeat design in your choice of black or tan (while supplies last). The shoot will take place between 9:30 and 11:00 at the bike valet parking area at Lidell Yards in Portland on Saturday. See you there!

Silca Protocol Tires

Made in Taiwan / $99 at Silca

Silca unveiled their PROTOCOL tire lineup that includes one RCR road tire in three widths and three gravel tires—RCG-1 for fast gravel, RCG-3 for mixed terrain, and RCG-4 for loose gravel and technical terrain—each in three widths: 45, 50, and 55mm. The PROTOCOL tire line was developed around modern racing conditions, wider rims, higher-volume tires, and lower tire pressures. The goal was to balance rolling efficiency, grip, ride quality, puncture resistance, aerodynamics, durability, and tire pressure optimization. There’s a lot to unpack in this video, including optimized casing ply angle, inverse proportional design, true-to-measure tire sizing, CarbonBead BeadLock carbon fiber bead technology, Pulsar Compound, tubeless fitment, and why different race conditions require different tire solutions.

Universal Bikepacking Recipes

Camp Latkes recipe

News from around the bikepacking world…

Neuhaus 750D Gravel Bike

In his latest video, Daniel Yang talks about why the 30.5″ (750D) tire size might be perfect for gravel bikes. From there, they build two prototypes and take them to the Lost and Found gravel event.

Why did we wait so long for the bicycle?

Old bikes

The bicycle as we know it today didn’t emerge until the late 1800s. On the surface, it’s a relatively simple mechanical invention—one that required neither a major scientific breakthrough nor an extraordinary flash of ingenuity. So why did it take so long to appear? This very long and interesting read from Jason Crawford aims to uncover that. Thanks to Jon Woodroof for the link.

Logan Watts: Canyonlands

The White Rim, Bikepacking route

After seeing Constanin’s new route earlier this week, I felt the annual autumnal draw to that part of Utah. I’ve never explored the Needles District, so it was quickly added to my Bucket List, but there’s something about that part of the world that starts to hit this time of year.
