The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Court in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, has convicted and sentenced Mukundagiri Rangachari Srinivasan, the then Assistant General Manager (Air Traffic Management) and Officiating Airport Director of the Kadapa airport, to rigorous imprisonment for three years and a fine of ₹50,000, in a bribery case.

The Central Bureau of Investigation registered the case on July 24, 2015. It was alleged that Srinivasan, while functioning as Assistant General Manager (Air Traffic Management) and Officiating Airport Director at the Kadapa airport, abused his official position as a public servant and demanded a bribe of ₹50,000 from the complainant for processing pending bills early and for not initiating the process of blacklisting the complainant’s firm, a CBI release said.

The CBI laid a trap and caught him while he was accepting ₹25,000, the first instalment of the bribe. It filed a chargesheet in February 2016, and the court convicted and sentenced him after trial.
