NEW DELHI: A day after gelatin sticks were found at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's convoy route, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) took matters into its hands and left for Bengaluru on Monday.The probe agency will will assist local police in the probe, ANI reported citing officials."A National Investigation Agency (NIA) team is enroute to the spot where a suspicious packet containing two gelatin sticks was found on the outskirts of Bengaluru, where PM Narendra Modi's convoy was scheduled to pass on Sunday. The NIA will assist local police in the probe," the officials said.No arrests have been made yet. Authorities have launched an investigation and constituted special teams to identify and track down those responsible.According to local police, a packet containing two gelatin sticks was discovered on Sunday morning near Thathaguni, Kaggalipura, about a kilometre from the NICE Road junction, nearly 90 minutes before the prime minister’s scheduled visit. Police said the package was spotted by a constable engaged in anti-sabotage inspections as part of an area domination exercise. The packet was reportedly lying around 25 feet from the roadside near a compound wall. After receiving the alert, the area domination team rushed to the location and recovered the two gelatin sticks, following which the surrounding area was secured.
