Hindustan Copper Ltd (HCL) is all set to ramp up operations at its Malanjkhand Copper Project (MCP), expecting to almost double its ore production capacity to 5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) by the financial year 2030-31. The expansion aligns with the company's long-term plan to intensify country's self-sufficiency in copper and cut down on import dependency.

For the being time the Malanjkhand Copper Project  has already achieved a production level of 2.725 MTPA in the financial year 2024-2025. The scale-up will be moderate, with production set to touch 2.75 MTPA in financial year 2025-2026, followed by 2.85 MTPA in 2026-2027. The numbers will continue to rise each year, 3.0 MTPA in 2027-28, 3.3 MTPA in 2028-29 and 3.5 MTPA in 2029-30, before reaching the 5.0 MTPA milestone in 2030-31.
