If you’ve been wondering what’s been going on with Evil Bikes, you’re not alone. We haven’t heard or seen much from the brand in several years, except for some “lightly salted” updates and UDH compatibility on some of its frames. Well, that all changes today, as the PNW-based brand is announcing a brand new Offering. This completely redesigned model still rocks Evil’s distinctive looks and DELTA suspension design, but now it sports 151 mm of rear wheel travel, modern and adjustable geometry, in-frame storage, and a host of other features.

This is the first new model we’ve seen from Evil in quite some time, and there’s quite a bit to unpack here. Let’s dive into the details and see what Evil has to offer with its new Offering.

The Offering has been completely redesigned to meet the demands of modern riders.

Evil Offering Details

The full carbon frame consists of completely new front and rear triangles. Both frame elements have new industrial designs that maintain Evil’s aesthetic but give it a somewhat more refined look. At the front of the bike, the oversized head tube remains, and the girth of the down tube has been increased to make room for Evil’s “Lunch Box Storage” compartment. Reportedly, this new compartment is large enough to fit all your standard on-trail and flat-repair tools inside a waterproof bag and behind a secure, silent door. The brand is quick to point out that it “will not quite fit your favorite Chipotle burrito.”

Other frame updates include “Cable Guy” housing security for quiet and tidy cable management. This includes improved front-to-rear triangle cable management and secure ports that don’t allow your housing to migrate or rub on the frame. A “Rock Stop” protects the intersection of the front and rear triangles from the intrusion of rocks and other debris while also shielding the main pivot from tire spray. Evil has also updated its sag indicator to make it easier to read, and a chain guide is integrated into the main pivot for a clean look.

The new Offering rolls on 29-inch wheels front and rear and does not appear to be MX compatible.

No More Super Boost

One of the most notable updates to the new Offering frame is the switch to standard Boost 148 rear axle spacing. Evil was one of the few brands that adopted Super Boost 157 spacing, and while it does have its merits, it has largely been rejected by the industry as a whole. As such, Evil is admitting defeat and has finally gone back to Boost 148 to maximize compatibility. The brand says that one of the reasons for this is that the latest chainline standard is 55 mm (up from 52 mm), which allows ample clearance for tires up to 2.6” wide.

More Travel

the Delta suspension design on the Evil OfferingThe new Offering gets 10 mm more rear suspension with Evil’s unique DELTA suspension design.

Evil added 10 mm of travel to the frame, bumping up to 151 mm while still using Evil’s unique DELTA suspension platform. As with most updated designs, the revised suspension kinematic of the Offering “improves sensitivity off the top, maintains mid stroke support, and maximizes bottom-out resistance to provide you with the most balanced and capable ride to date.” Working with suspension guru Dave Weagle, Evil claims its revised DELTA link is the best ever, boosting durability, stiffness, and stability.

Stock fork travel has also been increased by 10 mm to 160 mm. That said, Evil gives riders the ability to choose between 160 and 170 mm forks when purchasing, so you can dial in the geometry and travel to your terrain and preferences. The brand also claims that it will work well with a 150 mm fork for a snappier, more trail-oriented ride.

Modern Geometry

a man riding the new Evil Offering in a desert landscapeThe modern geometry is adjustable to suit rider preferences and terrain.

Given the length of time since the Offering’s last update, the geometry has undergone significant changes to bring it back up to speed. Evil is referring to it as “Slack and Track Geo.” This includes head tube angles that are 1.5 degrees slacker than the previous version, now at 64.7 degrees (high) or 64.1 degrees (low) with a 160 mm fork. Chainstays have grown by 5 mm to 435 mm, and front center lengths have expanded by 20 mm to enhance stability.

Evil’s seat tube angles have been comparatively slack compared to modern trends for the past several years, but that is finally changing. The Offering’s seat tube angle has been steepened dramatically to create what Evil is calling a “Straight Up Climbing position.” Seat tube angles are 2 degrees steeper, falling between 77.7 and 79.2 degrees, depending on the fork length and flip-chip setting. So, while front center lengths have increased, virtual top tube lengths have decreased, and reach has remained almost the same as the previous version.

Evil states that the new “Rip Chip” adjustment is much quicker and easier to deal with, opening the door for on-tril adjustments to geometry. Moving from the high to low positions changes the head tube angle by +/- 0.5 degrees and the bottom bracket height by +/- 8mm. When considering the 160 mm and 170 mm fork length options, this allows for four distinct geometries to choose from. Check out the chart below for the options and top compare with the outgoing model (the rows in green in the upper two charts)
