England ran out 6-4 winners against France in a chaotic, 10‑goal World Cup thriller to clinch the Bronze medal.

Arsenal and England star Bukayo Saka was left speechless as he walked out of his BBC interview after his treble helped the Three Lions to third place at the World Cup, reports Stephen Killen.

The winger was stunned by a question which tried to lighten spirits following their semi-final exit as England beat France 6-4 on Saturday.

Kelly Sommers, the broadcaster's England correspondent, attempted to soften the blow of losing in the semi-final to Argentina, but managed to earn third-place with the thrilling triumph over the pre-tournament favourites.

Thomas Tuchel has explained why Bukayo Saka was given a reduced role at the World Cup after the England star admitted that he wanted to play more, reports Nathan Ridley.

Saka scored a hat-trick in Saturday's third-place play-off against France, as the Three Lions ran out 6-4 winners following one of the wildest games in World Cup history.

After coming into the tournament with an Achillies injury, Saka started just one of England's four knockout matches prior to beating France, and wasn't given a single minute in their late semi-final loss against Argentina.

Didier Deschamps has officially managed his final France match and while his side were beaten, what a way to go out!

With just one World Cup, his tenure may be reflected on as dissapointing but French captain Kylian Mbappe only had kind words for the 57-year-old as he issued a touching social media tribute.

Though late call-up Trevoh Chalobah came on for the final few minutes, Kobbie Mainoo was not the only player overseas that didn't play.

That is because Jason Steele has been part of the Three Lions' training camp but he could not actually be named in any squads.

As the players collected their bronze medals, Steele waited to one side but he was encouraged to come up on the platform by Jude Bellingham and Morgan Rogers with Jordan Henderson putting the medal round his neck.

Despite the bad end to their World Cup, that gesture certainly showed the togetherness of the group.

Plenty of big moments took place last night with one before kick-off, another at half-time and a third following the full-time whistle.

Ahead of the game starting, Thomas Tuchel was booed but it was a very different emotion shown by coach Anthony Barry in his half-time interview.

Bukayo Saka also spoke to the BBC and despite his hat-trick, was not overly impressed by some of the questions he faced.

A big talking point after the Argentina game was the lack of Bukayo Saka.

The Arsenal star has been nursing an achilles injury in recent weeks and made a big impact in tonight's game, scoring a hat-trick.

Asked about Saka's omission for the Argentina game, Thomas Tuchel told BBC Sport: "He did everything right. I had a feeling in the semi-final for [Morgan] Rogers. That he would be involved in something special. That was it.

"The games in itself demands so much, so much focus on changes because of cramps and flow of the games.

"Bukayo showed that he is a key player. There is never a doubt. I wasn't aware he had a hat-trick. I lost the overview of the goalscorers, but brilliant."

There has been plenty of scrutiny on Thomas Tuchel since England's World Cup semi-final loss vs Argentina.

But Martin Keown insists the former Chelsea boss IS an elite manager - and that England fans and the FA should stick with him.

"There's a lot of anger and you can understand all of that but it would be a complete waste of time if we were to not stick with this man," Keown said on BBC Sport.

"What he has learned and I believe he is intelligent and an elite manager having won the Champions League and titles in various different countries.

"I think we should support him."

Michael Olise assisted both of Kylian Mbappe's goals tonight and, in doing so, became the first player to set up seven goals at the same tournament. That record has stood since Pele managed six in 1970, with all of his World Cup assists coming during that edition.

Lionel Messi would have to set up three goals for Argentina in the final against France to equal Olise's total.

Thomas Tuchel played Morgan Rogers over Bukayo Saka in the World Cup semi-final because he had a feeling for the Aston Villa man.

Speaking about Saka to the BBC, the coach said:

Bronze medals are now around the necks of every England player after coming out on top in that crazy match. Harry Kane led them up to the on-pitch ceremony, and they are now doing a lap around the stadium to show their appreciation to the fans.

Kobbie Mainoo has one despite not playing a single minute during the tournament. Jason Steele also got one, who has been a training goalkeeper this summer, with several England players urging him to come up and collect one.

Jude Bellingham has now scored more goals (7) during a single World Cup campaign than any other Englishman. No one else has previously broken half a dozen, with Gary Lineker doing so in 1986 and Harry Kane managing the same amount in 2018 and again this year.

The midfielder's seven strikes are only bettered by Lionel Messi, eight, and Kylian Mbappe, ten, at this tournament. Some effort.
