Nervous and excited England fans have picked up the pints at pubs and fan zones across the country for the clash against Argentina

Excited England fans have headed down to pack out pubs and fans zones ahead of the hotly anticipated World Cup semi-final clash with Argentina.

The Three Lions will face old rivals Argentina in a tough match as they hope to make it to the World Cup final - 60 years after the men's teams first and only appearance when they won in 1966. World Cup holders Argentina will also be looking to extend Lionel Messi's goal count, which currently sits at eight, and his race for the Golden Boot.

Both Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham will be chasing the Inter Miami man as they both sit on six goals.

The clash kicks off at 8pm UK time, 3pm local time in Atlanta, but Brits have already gotten down to the boozers early to catch a seat for the game. Nervy fans will be waiting for kick off but some screenings have also given fans entertainment to help the build up pass by.

A Jude Bellingham lookalike competition at Boxpark Shoreditch, in East London, pulled a massive crowd. Each lookalike took turns on stage with some showing off their football skills or hitting the classic Bellingham celebration - with their arms wide open.

A man called Marcus won the competition and was handed a £1,966 Deliveroo voucher and a vinyl of The Beatles hits, as most fans sing Hey Jude for the young star. As the match starts at 8pm, pubs will be allowed to stay open until 1am due to a temporary extension to opening hours granted by the government.

Fans at Boxpark Wembley have taken over the site with St George's hats with the balconies officially at capacity. Fans gifted the crowd with renditions of Parklife, Let Me Entertain You, and Roll With It before kick-off. Some fans predicted a good win for England. Oliver Judah, 18, and pal Benny Dolman, also 18, were in optimistic spirits at the top of Wembley Park station.

Benny, speaking to the Mirror, predicted a 3-1 England win, with a Harry Kane brace and Bellingham on the scoresheet. Oliver said Kane and Bellingham would take the Three Lions to a comfortable 2-0 win.

Pubs are expecting to sell six million extra pints on Wednesday night to fans watching the semi-final. The British Beer and Pub Association (BBPA) said pubs would expect to sell eight million pints on an average Wednesday in July, so the extra six million equates to a 75% increase.

BBPS chief executive Emma McClarkin said: "Thanks to the World Cup, we've seen millions of extra pints sold off the back of home nations matches.

"Given the nail-biting stakes, we expect Wednesday to be the most successful night of the tournament, with more than six million extra pints potentially sold – which is a bigger boost than we'd normally see on a bank holiday or New Year's Eve."
