US nationals in Bahrain have been told by the US Embassy that 'terrorists may attack with little or no warning' as they were urged to 'immediately seek cover' if they hear explosions or sirens

A retaliatory attack by Iran following US and Israeli strikes in Manama

The US Embassy in Bahrain has told US nationals that "terrorist groups are intent" on attacking them.

Americans have been asked to avoid hotels in the capital city due to possible attacks which the embassy warned could come "with little or no warning". It comes as the widening conflict involving Iran, the US and Israel fuels fears of further strikes across the Gulf. In a stark alert issued this morning, the embassy said "drone and missile attacks from Iran continue," as it warned US nationals "terrorists may attack with little or no warning".

Hotels in Manama could be targeted, the warning added, with citizens asked to exercise caution. Americans have been told to "immediately seek cover" if they hear explosions or sirens.

The warning reads: "The US Embassy reminds US citizens to exercise caution and maintain vigilance. Drone and missile attacks from Iran continue. The US Embassy has advised US citizens in Bahrain that hotels might be a target for attacks, and encourages US citizens to avoid hotels in Manama.

"Terrorist groups and those inspired by such organizations are intent on attacking U.S. citizens abroad. Terrorist groups continue plotting possible attacks in Bahrain. Terrorists may attack with little or no warning."

On Saturday, three hundred British personnel were within 200 metres of an Iranian retaliatory strike on the US naval base in Bahrain. No casualties were reported. The country said it had intercepted missiles fired at them, but falling debris appeared to have caused significant damage.

A further drone strike on the US Navy's 5th fleet base sparked a huge fire on Sunday. Four people have been wounded by Iranian attacks in Bahrain so far, an official said.

Fighting in the Middle East has now entered its third day, with the US and Israel continuing attacks on Iran following the death of its supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. On Sunday, an retaliatory Iranian missile strike killed nine people in the Israeli city of Beit Shemesh.

The ‌Israeli military said it had ‌also begun attacking the Iranian proxy group Hezbollah at sites across Lebanon. Strikes in Beirut and southern Lebanon have killed at least 31 people and injured 149, according to the Lebanese health ministry. At least three civilians have been killed in the UAE since Saturday.
