Widespread heavy snow, sleet and freezing rain threatened nearly 180 million people — more than half the US population — in a path stretching from the southern Rocky Mountains to New England, the US National Weather Service said Saturday night.

Aerial video from Oklahoma City on Sunday showed roads and highways covered in snow, with emergency responders attending to traffic incidents caused by the heavy snow fall.

Department of Transportation workers treated roads with salt brine and plow trucks pushed snow off the roads as forecasters warned people to brace for a string of frigid days.
