The latest Brother Cycles Mr Wooden is nearly here, and the versatile all-rounder is available for pre-order with a lovely Metallic Brown color and some other elevating touches. The headtube badge is now metal, and the logos feature a subtle hand-drawn design by illustrator Matt Blease, giving the frameset what the small brand calls a “softer and more organic feel.” Aesthetic changes aside, it’s still the same great bike I reviewed a couple of summers ago. I love mine to this day, and I give a big thumbs-up to these changes.

If you’ve missed it, Brother’s 4130 chromoly steel Mr Wooden is a versatile light tourer/randonneur built with a pleasing suite of time-tested standards. Designed around quick-release 650B wheels, it’s rim-brake-only, right at home with downtube shifters mounted, sports a low-mid-trail fork, has a threaded 68mm bottom bracket, and will clear 50mm tires front and rear. There’s nothing newfangled here, and while it won’t be for everyone in 2026, its beauty lies in its simplicity.

Stock is expected to arrive early next month, and Brother is taking pre-orders now. Mr Wooden framesets are priced at £799 including UK VAT, or £665/$900 for buyers outside the UK, and they come in five sizes (XS to XL) to fit a broad range of riders.
