Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayIn a recent announcement from Disney (according to Dark Horizons), it has been confirmed that development has started on a sequel to this year’s live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch.
The announcement was made via the studio’s official Instagram account with a video celebrating 626 Day. As it’s still in early development, no further news on plot details, casting, directors, or release dates have been confirmed.
The original movie from 2002 gained two sequels, Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch and Stitch! The Movie, which were both direct-to-video. These movies could give the studio and filmmakers involved potential material for the live-action sequel, but at this time, it is too early to tell.
This year’s remake was directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, who had previously made 2022’s Marcel the Shell with Shoes On, which was nominated for Best Animated Feature at the 2023 Academy Awards. The remake stars Maia Kealoha as Lilo, Sydney Elizebeth Agudong as, and Chris Sanders returning as the voice of Stitch.
Lilo & Stitch has grossed approximately $914.4 million at the global box office, making it the third-highest-grossing movie of 2025 so far despite mixed reviews from critics. The movie is still playing in cinemas now.
