In the wake of the recent emergency in Venezuela, a group of Venezuelan women living in Costa Rica has stepped up to bridge a critical communication gap. They have launched pacientesve.com, a centralized digital platform designed with a single, urgent mission: helping families locate survivors who have been transferred to various medical facilities and collection centers.

Faced with a chaotic environment where patient lists are scattered, incomplete, or constantly changing, this initiative acts as a unified database to reduce uncertainty and streamline the search for missing loved ones.

Solidarity from Abroad: “What Can I Do From Here to Help?”

The initiative was born out of a deep sense of solidarity and the desire to provide tangible support from outside Venezuela’s borders. For the creators, distance was not a barrier to taking action.

“We are Venezuelan, and the first thing that crossed our minds was: if I can’t be there lifting rocks, what can I do from here to help?” — Vanessa Peper, Co-founder of the project.

Currently, families on the ground face immense logistical hurdles. Because survivors are frequently moved between different care centers, keeping track of their whereabouts has become an agonizing challenge.

“The lists are being updated every moment at each of the hospitals,” Peper explained. “You can imagine how chaotic it is for families to find a relative who has been transferred to a medical center, or when they just don’t know where they are.”

By centralizing these scattered records into a single, searchable platform, the team aims to transform a chaotic process into a faster, simpler, and much more manageable search.

How the Platform Works

The website functions as a dynamic database that consolidates official and verified influxes of information.

  • Centralized Database: It aggregates raw data and handwritten or digital lists sent directly from hospitals and local collection centers.
  • Real-Time Updates: The system is continuously refreshed as new records, transfers, and medical updates come in.
  • Accessible Search: Families both inside and outside of Venezuela can securely check the database from any internet-connected device to trace their relatives.

While the platform is already operational, its ultimate success relies heavily on a continuous flow of accurate information. Other digital platforms have already reached out to integrate their databases and expand the project’s reach, but more help is needed on the ground.

The founders have made an urgent appeal to citizens, healthcare workers, and volunteers currently in Venezuela to safely share updated patient lists from local medical centers.

“The only thing we ask is that hopefully, people over there can help us get updated lists from each of the medical centers,” Peper expressed. “For every Venezuelan outside the country, being able to have a small beacon of light on where to locate their relatives is going to mean the world.”

With the community’s backing, pacientesve.com aims to remain a vital lifeline and a crucial support tool for thousands of anxious families navigating this crisis.

How You Can Help
