The Cyberabad Traffic Police will develop 10 free lefts and five dedicated U-turns across key junctions in the commissionerate as part of a phased initiative to improve traffic flow, reduce congestion and enhance road safety.
Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Sunpreet Singh on Friday inspected the ongoing free left and U-turn development works at Wipro Junction under the Gachibowli Traffic Police Station limits. The inspection was aimed at reviewing the progress of works intended to ensure smoother vehicular movement at one of the city’s busiest junctions.
The traffic engineering measures are part of the first phase of the project, with additional locations planned in subsequent phases. Police said the locations were identified following detailed traffic studies to reduce delays at major intersections and improve junction efficiency.
The proposed free lefts will be developed at Cyber Towers in Madhapur, Nanakramguda Rotary-1 in Raidurgam, Wipro Junction towards IIIT in Gachibowli, My Home Avatar in Narsingi, Gulmohar in Kollur, Navya Junction in RC Puram, Navapan in Patancheru, JNTU in KPHB, Gandimaisamma in Jeedimetla and Miyapur Junction towards JNTU.
Dedicated U-turns are planned at TG-Transco in Raidurgam, Vamshi Urban Apartments towards Pragathinagar in Bachupally, Balaji Nagar in Kukatpally, Remedy in KPHB and Kamalesh Medical Hall under the Balanagar flyover.
During the inspection, the Joint Commissioner directed officers to expedite the works while ensuring proper traffic regulation during construction to minimise inconvenience to commuters.
Later, he visited the Gachibowli Traffic Police Station, where he reviewed the station’s functioning and instructed officers to maintain operational preparedness, strengthen field supervision, respond promptly to traffic-related incidents and ensure transparent and public-friendly policing.
The Cyberabad Traffic Police also appealed to motorists to follow lane discipline by taking only a left turn after entering a free left lane and using only designated U-turn lanes for turning around. Police said adherence to these measures would reduce conflicts at junctions and improve traffic movement across the commissionerate.
