Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Friday paid his respects to Malathi, wife of former Indian Olympic Association president and former head of the Daily Thanthi Group, Sivanthi Adithan, in Chennai.

Mr. Stalin, along with Municipal Administration Minister K.N. Nehru and Thousand Lights MLA N. Ezhilan, paid his respects to the mortal remains of Ms. Malathi at her residence. The Chief Minister expressed his condolences to S. Balasubramanian, chairman of the Daily Thanthi Group, and to the bereaved family members.

Separately, representatives from associations of ex-servicemen called on Mr. Stalin at the Secretariat and thanked him for laying the foundation stone for a training unit for ex-servicemen at St. Thomas Mount. Representatives of the Fair Price Shops Workers’ Association and office-bearers of the Chennai Press Club also called on him.

Mr. Stalin also visited Siva Dhileepan of the May 17 Movement, who allegedly attempted to end his life during a demonstration organised by the outfit demanding the removal of Hindi letters and was admitted to a government hospital.

In a post on X, Mr. Stalin said conspiracies against Tamil Nadu would be defeated in the political arena and urged the youth not to take any extreme steps.
